Bulging disc

CANETHING

New member
Got an MRI today that showed I have 2 bulging discs in the l4-l5 are and an annular tear. I need to be able to start my normal training again and play football in August. Anyone else have this and if so what was you're recovery like and were you able to lift normally again.

What did the doc say you should do?

I have had cervical disk bulges that got better over time. Lost most of the strength in my right bicep for a while, but physical therapy straightened me out.

remember when i told you a month ago to stay away from steroids at your age and you threw a major hissy fit ?

well this is one of the reasons.. you are not even old enough to drink yet but you already went and crippled yourself. disc problems can take months or even years to heal themselves. you need to backoff and let things heal instead of pounding away. AAS will make things worse ..

invest in an inversion table.. your doctor will not tell you this as its in his best interest to have you go to his friend the chiropractor for the next few months.

but i doubt you will listen cause you young guys know everything

The doc told me to do PT and that I shouldn't lift anymore, which isn't an option.

Time, that's about the only thing that will heal a bad back. NSAID's, possibly prednisone or injections might help. Surgery is an option if the pain won't let up after a few months. I would still train but definitely steer clear of anything compressive to the spine. No squats, dead lifts, cleans until the back heals.
