Bicycling

I got the bike bug too. Rode MTB for years and competed in off road tri's. Then got a road bike and was shocked when I hit that big gear! Ouch!! Had a new respect for road racers. Plus, road bikes are so much more $ than MTB's! Its crazy how light they are though and how fast you can go.

Personally I dislike the highest gear on roadbikes, I use the middle chainring on the lowest sprocket. To make up for the speed I go at higher rpm then I would on the highest gear(:

As outrageous as you want to get with road bike pricing, you can get equally outrageous with mountain bike pricing.
I think the top Specialized Epic 29 carbon is over 10K, for an example.

Daaaaamn! I guess I'm comparing my first entry level trek MTB to my first entry level trek road bike. But your right you can dump a lot on either. I have a bad habit of going all in on a hobby then getting bored and dumping it. LOL

Yes, I have to stay in the middle to be effective. Haha

You should look into getting a compact crank... it will help you achieve a higher rpm because the large and small crank chain rings are smaller than what is on a standard crank.

I find running on a treadmill boring as hell and honestly it hurts my joints to the point where I don't want to run, recently I've been getting into cycling and I love it. No pain at all besides from soreness when I pretend to be "lance Armstrong " Anybody have different opinions and Why?

I enjoy it too..wear a helmet and watch out for vehicles.
