Naah, it's just a peeve of mine, for what, 28 years now, the US has been on the metric system, but we still don't use it in everyday conversation. Heck even the British speak metric now and they hate the French more than us.
I always use the calorie as an example of simplicity of measurement.
1 calorie = the amount of heat necessary to raise the temperature of 1 cc or 1 ml of water 1° celcius. BTW, that water also has a mass of 1g.
(for complete accuracy the water must be at 4° c
Our system of measurement doesn't have symmetry, for lack of a word at the moment, like that of the MKS system.
