Any women bench press their bodyweight?

awesome job ladies!

VERY few women at my gym lift weights, let alone throw up the numbers that you guys do. you all have my respect!

:)

Quads sister- its not that it is harder to develope per-se', just that women obviously have very high fat receptors in that part of the body for breasts naturally...with that factor being in place, its going to be harder to see chest muscle developement...shit Paula Suzuki has a 365# max bench!!! in competition!!! and she is very small....

Hey, thats awesome to know it might just have been my fat receptors - although i wish they had been higher in that area - cause i had to buy some silicone to sit on top of my fat (or abscence of fat! - LOL). Yes, I have always admired a women with a big bench press - to me it signifies strength (and perseverance)

also, remember that hormone differences are the most significant....you are not going to get a males chest developement, in a womans body...unless you push the envelope with male AAS....then all your femininity is gone....its not worth taking it that far IMO....unless your going all the way....

taking it all the way...

I hear you on that PBR, to me feminity is as important as lifting and competing - i will not compromise this, i have always felt this way. When i competed at Jr Nat's - many of the women were so big and bordered on too big - but of course that is only my opinion. I was really too big for myself to feel comfortable with...Its okay at the shows, but when you go out to dinner, a movie - etc., I had arms and shoulders bigger than a lot of men and most all women. I really didn't get many smiles, just those freak looks. Some would say "Embrace your freakieness!" but i feel more comfortable around 135 - not 150 as i was. I have always struggeled with this - i wonder if other women have as well... by the way - is that you on that bike?

embracing freakyness

Do we embrace this look and composuer?? tough question..".we" in this sport deal with it on a daily basis, wherever we go...no matter how much we try to hide this body we have taken so many years to build so we can look good to the opposite sex, and then we spend all this time and effort in trying to cover it up so as it wont be too obvious or overbearing on those who come into contact with us...the general public....in our world, we want to be freaks and show it all off, hold nothing back....there are some in "awe", there are some is disgust, some in fear, some in envy and some ideas....many views of the human body in this state of metamorphosis -create perceptions....we are not normal by any means....your awareness is heightened at all times when you are out and about....embracing all this??? I think we do learn how to cope...I think for most of us its a little rush ....check your PM

I've been thinking about this for a few days...as much as it might be a little freaky, PBR, for a man to get huge, it's freakier for a woman.

Muscularity has always been an ideal for men. BBing just takes what's "normal" for a man and takes it to the extreme.

Female bbers, on the other hand, face more opposition, I think. The traditional female ideal has been one of softness, of weakness. Hell, not that long ago, the look caused by TB was considered romantic: pale skin, big, dark eyes, and a languid disposition. (I wouldn't be surprised if some men thought the idea of a woman with a short life expectancy was a good thing, even...not too much of a commitment!)

Well, obviously things change. But a very muscular woman remains an oddity in most folks' minds. We threaten weak men, and women wonder if we're lesbians after their flaccid asses. (As if! If I wanted a woman, I'd want a fit woman!)

Quadsweep's Sister, I say: fuck what others think. Emerson said that a wise man (read: person) maintains an independence of the good opinions of others. That's what I try to do.

Besides, like Aesop's fable with the father, son and donkey on the way to the market illustrates, you just can't please everyone. So please yourself. If folks don't like it, well...you don't need those kind of people as friends, anyway.

wend -good post!!! the perceptions of a womans physique is changing, for the better IMO....look at hollywood...the female stars are taking on a" lean buffed out "appearence...you are so right tho,in the mainstream, muscular females are truely an oddity-spectacle...but thats what sets them all apart from the "norm"....thank you very much!!!!

Thanks! 'Course, when I talk like that on the anabolic board, I get called a "dumb bitch..." Oh, well...like I said, I'm not trying to please anyone else!

the AB board is a different world.....its amazing how you can travel between perceptions, wisdom and knowledge with a click of a button on the same site....we have groups within groups here....and we search for the arena where we can relate the most...just like life itself.....
