Any women bench press their bodyweight?

Wilson6 etc -

OK, now I am wondering if there's something wrong with my training/what's wrong with it.

I've been training for about a year and a half, my best bench is 95 pounds - that's 1RM. Well, 2RM actually, but I keep failing at 100.

Other lifts -
DL 205
squat 175
chinups 3x8-10
bent-over row 3x8-10 & 75 (after dl & chins)
dips 3x6
ohp 3x8 @ 45
etc

Is my bench weak in comparison? Or am I just weak in general? I have a hard time telling whether I'm making good progress or not.

Lola.

Bench is weak in comparison. If those other lifts are clean (full ROM), at least from my perspective, you should be getting 95 x 8 on the bench for at least one set.

Lola- your bench just may be on of your weaker exercises. We all have them. Just keep working on it, from what you said in your other exercises those are very good numbers especially the pullups.

Last spring I took part in my first RAW bench press competition (I was the only girl who was benching). I pressed 176, with a pause at the bottom. That's my PB. On Monday I did pyramid at the bench and managed to press up as much as 165. I was overjoyed because I seldom bench so much at this time of year. I usually check my one-rep max in the end of May. I've still got time to reach maybe that magical 185. BTW I can think better in kilos than in pounds. That 185 would be about 84 kg, that's only 4 kg to my PB.

I'm 162cm and I weigh about 71 kg. That would be 5'5'' and 156.

I returned to the gym (after a decade away) over the summer, and have been training hard since.

I'm 5'8" and about 165-170#. I've done 100 for 2/10, though the last time I tried it my right arm failed and I dropped half the weight on my face.

Before that, I'd done 125 for 2/5. Full ROM, touching the chest & pausing.

I'm hoping I'll be able to do my body weight in about a year.

W6 Ive known only 2 women that could do that...However, the gyms I workout in are not Hardcore BB gyms, where Iam sure your experience comes from...asian and gspotme those are very impressive numbers, to say the least....

Back B4 all of these nagging injuries and setbacks, I would regularly bench press (full ROM & litely touch chest) 145# at a bodyweight of ~115lbs. My training partners had comparable numbers as well. I think most women do not realize their own strength. The woman i train with currently is just now realizing her strength potential and it is refreshing to watch her tap into it!

Lola, try different grip widths if you use a bar and different positions if you use DBs. IMO, some people are stronger using a wider grip (I am) and some are stronger using a more narrow grip (which would incorporate more tris I think). With your other numbers being so high, I think a lil tweaking in form would bring your BP/CP numbers up too.

Hmmm, grip width, eh? Usually I go pretty narrow - pinkies a couple inches inside the rings - in the past wider hurt my shoulders - but I will try it again, now I've been doing rotator exercises for a while. Thanks ... because after all, my goal in life is to be able to bench press my body weight.

I was able in my late teens until I decided it would be a great idea to drop down to a size 0. I'd love to get back to that strength. It was SO nifty. ;)
