Advice from the experts please...on when/what to eat pre-workout

A simple question that I'm sure a lot of you will have good responses for. Basically when I come home from work and gettin' ready to go to the gym. I'm always hungry. I don't know if I should eat or not. I don't want to have all this food in my stomach and my body wasting away good energy digesting that food while I'm lifting. On the other hand, if I'm on an empty stomach...I feel lightheaded when I lift. And the program I'm on right now...I can't afford that at all. So my question. When is a good time to eat before working out so I'm not wasting energy digesting food...but I'm not lightheaded while workin' out. half hour? an hour? Any/all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D :D

source of protein about 1 hour before training, also depends on what your training, you could get away with a large meal just before training if you ronly training for example chest and back, however if its leg or back day then forget it , you will puke your guts up

1 hour before you train,go in and train on an empty stomach,if you take ECA,take it a half hour before you hit the gym.

I would stay away from food altogether, then do a very intense and quick workout and then have a feast with plenty of both protein and carbs. Note: max protien intake per meal is about 40g.

thanks to all...sysopt...I'm on the TITAN training program and my workouts are VERY intense and last maybe 30-35 min's. So that sounds like a viable option. I will give it a shot. Maybe I need to take in more water. Maybe that's why I'm light-headed.

What to eat

This topic basically depends on who you are. Those who are proponents of lo-carb even for bulking becasue of the increased testosterone will tell you protein before and protein after.

If tried both. What I think works best is to eat 2 hours befoer lifting. This lets you completely digest. Then when you get out of the gym eat high, quality protein and carbs. The carbs stop Testosterone output, but also stop Cortisol output.

So anyway-pre workout. Eat protein. If you eat carbs you will probably still have a lot of insulin in your system and that will stop the beneficial Testosterone/GH releases from lifting

ive been looking for the answer t this for very long..

but if u dont eat carbs before u lift..wont u feel drained??

ive tried allot of difffrent things..

i usually eat carbs and protein 2 hours before
carbs under an hour before, and i was drinking glutamine and creatine in gaterade during my werkout wich was werking well.

I have a meal every 3 hours with mostly carbs and some protein and seems to be working nicely. After workout I eat lots of both carbs and protein.

Wasting good energy? Good energy=carbohydrates
You want to use the carbohydrates or else they will be stored as fat. I don't believe you can "waste" energy, unless you are bulking, in which case you should just up your caloric intake if your body is using too much.

How many calories are you eating each day, and what are your goals? bw,bf, etc.????

The answer to this question will be different for everybody, try eating a balanced meal (about 60%carbs/20%protein/20%fat)
but try and keep food volume down, and possibly take an appetite suppresent if you find yourelf still being too hungry. (I recommend CCK, made by Apex which comes from Phoenix Labs)

If you give us some background info, it may help you get better answers.(just a suggestion)
