A mark of progress!

I tend to wear loose, comfy t shirts and sweatshirts all the time, rarely ever anything fitted. But I didnt have time to wash my clothes this weekend so i had to borrow my sister's stuff. She's got a similar frame, wears the same size as me, but doesn't lift at all. She's all about the nicer, fitted shirts. Like from Old Navy, GAP, Express, etc. Well, all of her shirts were waay tight around my back. I also noticed that my bra looks tight around my back, but I don't have much fat there at all.

This can only mean one thing, because my boobs aren't getting bigger. It must mean I'm growing! My back has gotten wider!!!! FINALLY, the db rows and the pullups are paying off!!!!!!!!!

:arty:

Now, if only my waist would shrink....!!! Its 30 and 1/4 inches. Last May, it was 27 inches, but I was using adipokinetix at the time. I have a full bottle, but I don't know if I want to use it again because I got 2 panic attacks while using it. And I never had them before. I also feel much better while not on stimulants.

Excellent! Take your time...your waist will respond. Dontcha wish there was a magic spell and we could just be where we wanted to be in the blink of an eye?

of course, a thicker (more muscular) waist helps you lift more weight according to Dave Tate - at least, that's what I keep telling myself :) - I'm now 42 (boobage not muscle)-34-39, weird proportions. Actually I hope it doesn't change TOO much with training as I've just made 2 new pairs of trousers, and I don't want to have to refit them any time soon...

Good for you! :) I've been reading your posts and I can sense your drive and determination. Keep up the good work!

Aww thanks Grl!

Puddles,
So true, it takes time. More than that, it takes patience! I've just upped my cardio from 3-4 times a week to 5-6 times a week and I'm trying to eat cleaner so hopefully I'll see some improvement sooner rather than later. How is it going with you?

This is what a trainer told me as well, but she said it in reference to squatting and other lower body strength exercises. She actually said to squat with legs not wider than shoulder width because otherwise itll build up the waist. I'd take a smaller waist over a heavier squat any day. I am 37.5 - 30.25 - 35 right now, so I look kind of straight through the torso. (Having D-size boobies is good for making me look more feminine, though).

It's going slow but steady. I finally dropped to just below 140 which was a big deal for me. Then 2 days later I was at 143 1/2. I fought back tears a few times at the gym that night. 2 days later I realized what had happened and I was back below 140. I'd gone way off the diet twice that week and had to take Immodium to resolve stomach issues. Well...after things worked themselves "out" I was back to where I was. LOL I hate it when stuff like that happens!

I need to get to the gym today. Hubby was out of town for the weekend and I didn't work out. <hanging my head in shame>

I put 2 recent pics of my bicep in my gallery...size is improving, bf loss is slow, but steady. :)

Baby's got back! :-)

Although, I have to disagree with the squat stance building a thicker waist. I've been squatting fairly heavy for years (185 lbs - 250 lbs), but my waist has never gotten any larger - 26 1/2 inches post season, 25 1/2 inches pre-contest. I've squatted using both a conventional stance and a wide stance - I'm currently only using a wide stance and am squatting 1 1/2 x my bodyweight, and my waist is down to 25 1/2 inches. I wouldn't rule out a wide stance for that reason alone. If you have long legs, you may find a wide stance is just more comfortable than the conventional stance.

I've always believed the tendency for muscle thickness at the waist is genetic, not a result of training. Just like I can't get my arms to grow any bigger. :-)
