www.fitday.com...HELP

Night Fly

New member
Hey...I have a few questions to those who track their info on this site. First of all...how do you add a food if it is not on their list? I just started today, and the first thing I ate wasn't even on there.

Second...how do you add weight lifting on your activities? I didnt' see that, either.

Thanks a bunch. I figured I might as well try this because I enjoy typing much better than writing, so maybe it will be an incentive to keep track of everything.

I love fitday!

When you are on the screen 'Foods Eaten Today' - under 'Add Custom' - there is a drop down menu, but the default is "NEW CUSTOM FOOD" - just click the 'GO' button to the right & you will be able to type in all the info.

When you are searching for foods, like baked chicken, it's MUCH more efficient to use the 'browse' rather than 'search'. Search will yield lots of brand name items - frozen dinner, canned chicken soup, etc. - but browse will let you get down to 'chicken breast-baked-cooked-without skin'.

As for activities, click the 'activities' link on the Left & under 'Browse' select 'conditioning exercise' from the drop down menu. From there, you can select "Weight lifting (free weight, nautilus, or universal-type), power lifting or body building, vigorous effort". THey even have the option "teaching aerobics class"! :) I personally never use that though. It has my BMR WAY too high - plus I know that "cals in vs. cals out" doesn't always apply to me totally anyway.

Enjoy! I think you probably will find that it's incentive - after each meal I go & enter what I had. Sometimes I'll create 'scenarios' (What is my %-split if I have this & that...??) - it's definitely habit now.
