I would recommend that you pick-up a pressure cooker. White rice cooks in 7 minutes and brown in 14.

dEF PRESSURE COOKER! i bought one yrs back, used it once, and returned it., best part was i bought it for 40$, returned it and got 60$ back! what an investment! lol the cashier just fucked up counting the money.

but i should have def kept the pressure cooker, prob will go pick one up

so what exactly is so bad about instant rice?

I REALLY dont know either, i checked ingrediants, its only brown rice, go figure, i asked a chef about it and the only dif he said was that brown rice is pre-cooked thats all. Wich yes, being cooked 2 times then might loose some nutritional value, but still minimal if any.

I hope someone can spread some real info

IMO, rice is a crap carb source..heavily refined with no fiber and miniscule nutrient content. Stick to oatbran hot cereal, oatmeal and other unrefined sources.

Are you serious? you think rice is "heavily refined"? How so? Instant brown rice is no different than regular brown rice. And brown rice in general is a medium GI carb with a GI of about 55.

yeah what he said! White rice is a High GI food, no brown. I just deal with it and cook the brown rice (45 mins). I cook enough rice in 1 day to last a whole week. I have a 3:1 water to rice ratio when cooking. This creates a sticky rice, and stays soft after refrigeration. Adding low sodium chicken stock/bullion cubes adds a little flavor.
