Who here trains with a partner?

I can't find anyone I know who has the dedication to stick with it long enough. I keep hearing you need a partner to make it far in this sport. If thats the case then I am screwed. Obviously it helps to have someone there to spot you but there are plenty of people in the gym who are willing to lend a hand. I'm just wondering if anyone else here has this problem. I think it would be nice at times to have a partner for motivation but all the people I know think working out is walking instead of driving to the convinient store for another 6 pack. What do all of you do to stay motivated and what do you do on the days you want to go super heavy?

a good training partner is very valuable, when i have to train alone i have to change things a bit,but my partner is good about making most of our heavy workouts......

I train with a partner and it's great! We both are about the same size and train in the same way, HIT. When I don't have a partner, the routine has to change and I cannot push myself as hard (because I go to failure). Instead of using free weights, I then have to change mostly to machines. A lot of people are willing though to help out if you need help. I asked a guy this morning if he wanted a spot.

A good training partner is like finding a good woman. Good luck

I got lucky with my training partner. We are at about the same poundages and drive eachother fucking hard. And, most importantly, the dude's dependable. Never flakes for a heavy day.
Just can't get lucky with the good woman part though:(

Yeah you can't beat a good training partner. It took me about 3 years of working out with multiple training partners before I found one that would let himself be pushed as hard as I push myself. I knew he was gonna be a good partner when the first time we worked out together was a HIT style workout and right at the end of the workout with one set of squats left he went to the bathroom and puked in the toilet 7 times but still came back out to finish his last set...that's dedication.

I'd say a training partner who is intense and determined as you are is the best thing you can have other than a gram of test a week. These types of people are hard to find since many don't like to really work out.

My training partner is not only invaluable help for getting the bigger weights in place when I really need him....he's there for me when that next to the last rep goes to failure, then shames me into doing another. He's there to kick my ass into gear when the day didn't. He's there for inspiration, and spirited competition. He's my training partner through great workouts, and lousy ones. He shows me new lifts, and is anxious to try ones that I find... Always..................................

My training partner owns we are matched pretty evenly for weights so we have the friendly competition fueling our desire for strength. (though we don't train powerlifter style).

I'm gonna post pics of him and I soon.
