My first ever powerlifting meet is saturday morning. I'm only entering in the bench press. I have a few questions. What should I start eating the day or 2 before the meet. Weight isn't a problem so I can eat however much I want. When I get there how much should I warm up and should I eat something special that morning for more stregenth? I worked out last night and plan on lifting wednesday but just doing a lite arm workout. I have worked on my form and evenything the past 2 weeks. I have covered everything I can think of. If theres anything else i need to know please let me know!!!

If weight is not a problem, eat whatever you want. Throw in a banana if you like them, might help you avoid cramps. Drink lots and lots of water. Before lifting, I am in the bathroom peeing every 15 minutes. Make sure that your pee is clear as tapwater, otherwise you are in danger of getting dehydrated, and that is how muscles get torn.

Regarding warmups, what is your opener? Post that and then I can tell you what to do for warmups.

good luck, have fun, and for god's sake, pick an opener you can do for an easy double. I know from whence I speak. You are going to want to get that first one on the board.

I'm debating on what to open with. I went over what I had planed on opening with last night. I started 245 went 255 and 265. I got all clean and easy. I ended up trying 275 and got it clean but it was slow going up. I will probably open at 250 depending on how I feel. I guess that will be OK, I don't really know!!!!

If weight is not a problem, eat as many carbs as you can without feeling bloated from the excess water retention. More mass = better leverage, as you do not have to lift too much of it since you are laying on the bench. However, you should not make any radical changes in your diet this close to a meet, as they can cause problems such as nausea and diarrehea. As was previously posted, drink plenty of water.

I have always had trouble eating the day of the meet, as I have generally had to diet to make weight, and I can not eat much before lifting.

I wind up eating baby food. Sure, it looks stupid, but it is better than vomitting during a lift.

Other suggestions for the day of the meet are simple (low GI) carbs and easily digestable (high BV) proteins. The less energy your body is using to digest and process food, the better. Fat will delay gastric emptying, so any fat containing food will take longer to digest.

Good luck.

At my meet my best lift was 250 and failed at 265 to warm up just go barX5 then 95X5 135X3 185X1 and in your case 205X1 like brain said. About eating man I felt the snickers and Gatorade shit worked for me. You eat your normal meals throughout the day but every 2 hours eat a snickers and drink some Gatorade. you'll be soooo carbed up and full of energy(this is JAY's way of doing it)
