Too much for cutting?

jeze

New member
I just started my cutting routine today and here is my log information.

Total calories: 2268
Fat: 93.65
Carbs: 250.5
BMR: 1908
Excercise: 30 minutes elliptical and 20 minutes treadmill (about 700 calories)

Am I taking in too many carbs or does it seem okay?

Depends on your carb intake when you were bulking. I would gradually lower the carbs as weeks progress. BTW what is your protein intake. I know i can subtract it from your total but thats your job. As you decrease carbs increase fats and proteins to get your cals.

If your BMR is 1908 cals, you must be around the 140 ~ 150lbs LBM...

well, you still need to tell us how much and how hard you train per week.

To know whether 2200 cals is too much, we need to know if you are burning them or not.

with that BMR and 5 times/week training I would shoot for 2100 cals/day.

one last thing, hit that cardio machine like there is no tomorrow: 6 times/Week.

I am 19 yrs.
I train 5 times a week. 50 mins cardio MWF (35 elliptical, 15 on the treadmill) and T,TH are weight days.

I'm 173 lbs at the moment. I got the BMR from a few online calculators.

I will need to calculate my protein intake though.

I think those numbers are wrong, unless you are already at a very low body fat level (which you might not be since you are cuting???)

Lets see: It you are 173 lbs and your BMR is 1908 cals, means your LBM is 156 pounds, which leaves 17 pounds fat... that would be the same as saying you are currently 10.89% BF . How does that sound? Do you look 11% body fat? (this is already VERY lean).

If it doesn't look like it, I would recommend you get your body fat tested (any method would do) so you can get at least a ball park figure. The BMR calculation based on body circunference or worse, only weight, etc is very vague and based on statistics.

On the other side, with that much cardio, you need to increase your weight training days at least to 4 times/week.

for a 173 lbs gus, wanting to cut, I can say that 2100 seems high, unless you are really 11% body fat. It all depends on the amount of muscle you have already. Only that defines your metabolic rate.

If there was ONE thing I could KNOW for certain about my body it would be what my BMR is!

We all can... it would be painful though... calculate your theoretical BMR and then stop all activities for 1 month...

adjust calories up or down until you maintain while doing nothing...

that must hurt...

I figure mine is 1800 cals... (not by following my own advice), but by close observation of results.
