To Everyone: What amount of weight do you lift for side laterals & front raises ?

Hi all. I was just curious how much weight you all use when doing side laterals & front raises for the shoulders ?

I've found that is hard for me to use more weight for my side laterals & front raises, But it's easeir to use extra weight for presses ?

Does this make any sense ?

I was hoping to use the same amount of weight for all 3 exercises ?

I don't want my shoulders to look un-preportioned ! ! !

What weight do you all use ? I really want to build up my shoulder muscles !

It is very very normal to be able to Overhead Press more than you can for Side Laterals and Froint Raises. And expected.

An OH Press is a multi-joint movement - more compound movement, involving mroe muscle groups. The Side Lateral and Front Raise are an isolation exercise.

IMHO, Front Raises are not necessary if you are also doing OH Presses. Both focus on front delts. Side Laterals focus on medial delts. Are you doing anything for rear delts? If you are doing 3 shoulder exercises, I would do these 3 - OHP, Side Lat, Rear Fly.

Not that it matters, since everyone is different, but I OH Press about 25-30lbs in each hand, Side Laterals about 12.5-15lbs in each hand.

I use about half the weight in side raises as I do in overhead presses.

Overhead presses: 30-35 lbs in each hand, 6 reps
Side raises: 15 lbs in each hand, 6 reps

My DB presses are 30-40 lbs, but the side laterals stay at 15. I can handle 20 lb for a few reps, but my form goes bad after that, so no point. For some variety you can use the cables and possibly get up to 20 lbs.

Very impressive Sassy69! I've gotten the 30's up a couple of times but have gone back to the 25's until I'm strong enough to get them up with good form (I use a lot of trap).Side lats are at 12.5.Has anybody tried unilateral presses to build stength in the delts?Feels a little awkard to me.

thanks everyone.

Yeah, I do the bent-over rear delt flys for my back delts. I usually do them with 5-8lbs, because my delts burn sooo bad !!!! but I kinda like it. I just don't do them at every workout. I usually do the same moves for like 2-3 weeks, and then change all the exercises & the exercise order. So my muscles don't adapt to the same thing.

I heard this is a good way to workout & continue to see results ? I hope so !!! LOL

I AM DEFENITELY GOING TO BUMP UP MY WEIGHT & TRY THE 12-15 FOR LATS
& 25-30 FOR PRESSES !

thanks again

Hey I also like doing bent over rear delt flys w/ the cables for variety - I really like the extra stretch on the down side (if you stand far enough away from the cable pulley!).
