Went to the doctor last night ....Good news, nothing serious. Bad news ... no drugs.
I have a severe case of laryngitis. Apparently, it starts as an upper respiratory virus. Usually an upper respiratory virus clears on its own, but in this case, the virus was stubborn and camped out in my throat. My lymph nodes are working overtime to clear it, but since it is a stubborn virus, things are moving slowly. He said I could have symptoms for up to 4-5 weeks. WEEKS!!!!
Biggest problems for me - the amount of talking I do everyday. Teaching 60+ kindergarteners does not give my voice a lot of rest. You should hear me right now - my voice sounds like a cycle of testosterone gone wrong.
Bright side is I have less congestion, so working out should be in the near future for me.
And I have a 3 day weekend coming up ..... so I can "rest" my throat/voice then. *sigh*
Isn't it a pain when life gets in the way? lol
I am still considering doing a half-marathon at the end of march. These couple weeks set my cardio/training back a lot, but might still be manageable. I am going to take the rest of Jan and Feb to see where I get in training. At the end of Feb I will make the final decision. I will continue to train as if I will run it, and if in Feb I decide it is not a good idea, I will find another race to do.
Not COMMITTING to anything yet (i.e., not sending in the race registration $$ yet) , but will continue to assume I will enter.
