tendon strain in forarm

karde

New member
i have had a strain in the tendon of my right forarm for a while now. It affects my lifting, so i went light for a while, and it didn't heal.

I took 3 weeks off it and came back yesterday, and it still hurts. Doctor only wants to give motrin for it.

Any advice?

I don't want it to get worse, so i am being gentle with it now.

Try using ice on it every night. Sounds simple but it will suprise you. I've had the same injury along with a shoulder problem. Both have been helped with ice.

If you can get your Doc to let you try Relifin, that might help to.

It's important to do something about it after the pain stops too. I found that all of my heavy back work was causing the strain in my arm. I've since added hammer curls and reverse curls on bi days and this has helped strengthen my forearm. So far I'm pain free.

I get something like that from time to time feels like my forearms are gonna snap right off! I only feel it when i'm doin heavy curls. any ideas??

Hate to tell you this, but you better just get used to it for a while. And DO NOT DO HEAVY CURLS!! At least for a few months. I strained my bicep tendon roughly 8 months ago. I still can't curl near what I used to, about 80% and can never lift without pain. But part of the reason for that is that I came back and went too heavy, too quick. I made it worse. Don't make the same mistake!! For now, get used to leaving your arm pride in the car when you go to the gym and baby it for a while.

what is Relifin supposed to do???

Thank for the advice guys, I will try the ice idea. And I am babying it for now. it's frustrating because i was making some good progress there.

i think i got the same problem in my forearm ... i didn't go to a doctor yet though so i don;'t know what exactly it is ...

whenever i grip something hard it starts hurting and when i want to let go of it it even hurts more ... i sometimes hold my forearm with my other hand and it makes the pain go away a bit ...

i gave a week off hopefully my body will recover... its pretty annoying can't do much

Bump for advice on a similar problem with my left elbow (tennis elbow?)....it greatly affects my arm and shoulder workouts forcing me to go lite for 3 weeks now.

I have to admit, this injury has really forced me to develope a good form.

I have been lifting lighter, so I have had chance to practice form, and good form makes it hurt less.

i did something to my leg a while back, strained or pulled a tendon in my ham. it hurt like a fucking bitch when i ran. Since its been football season for a while i've been taking a break from lifting (few months) and its almost back to normal. No medications helped. Also i went to a chiropractor who worked with it.
