before talkin about good/bad genetics, one should have at least 1 year of heavy training.

yeah but i think there are a lot of people out there that just dont give the effort in the gym, and in the book as fair as bodybuilding goes...they think some thing is wrong when everything is wrong...and all they have to do is open their eyes
word. i have been working out for 15 years now, but 10 of them were wasted. everbody at these mainstream gyms is just going through the motions and i was too. only when i learned that you really have to give it all, endure pain, i was really starting to grow. and there is still plenty of room for me to try harder. this is something you just cannot talk about in the forums; actually, i cannot even tell when i am standing besides the guy if he is really working hard. you can only find out yourself. if you don't get this mind-muscle connection, you will never grow.

Yea, I have 2x the dedication as anyone I know. I am also one of the smallest! I have always had no problem staying lean, and have had good overall size. I feel that the guys that have to try harder will also keep at it longer. The lazy guys that grow easy also tend to lack long term dedication. Does piss me off when friends pig out on big macs and stay big and vascular!

Truly heavy training - most do not possess the mental will for that and never will.
I do pretty well but am jealous of the guy who has larger arms and just does cable pushdowns
then again ill cycle once more in late February after being clean for a year.

Tom Prince had a thread on another board about what it took to be a pro. Very good thread. He said, as most anyone that has been in the game for any length of time knows, that genetics are by far the #1 factor when it comes to building muscle and losing fat.
Case in point, at a gym that I used to manage there was a 20 yr old kid that was flat out the most genetically physically gifted individual I have ever seen, or anyone has seen. This kid could have gone pro and smoked most competitors. I'm not one to exaggerate, but suffice it to say that this kid had what it takes. Full muscle bellies, very balanced, about 5' 10", huge calves, and the most amazing part is that he was white!! (If you take the average African American and compare him to the average white guy you'll see that physically the African Americans will almost always come out on top in a physique comparison.). You get the picture. This kid stops by the desk and complains that he's not getting lean enough for his show. I was helping a few people for the local show and I asked to take a look at him. He pulled up his shirt to reveal a very lean upper body. Then he showed me his legs. Again very lean. I said "I think that you're doing fine". "Yea," he replies, "but I'm getting sick of eating bananas..."! That's right, this genius was eating bananas b/c he saw gorillas eating them on TV and thought that they were ripped, so.... :worried: On top of that he was natural. The only thing that he ever took was andro and creatine. Like I said, he was physically gifted, buy mentally boderline retarded. I'm not joking about borderline retarded, I really think he had problems. I made some simple changes to his diet and he went on to win the middles and damn near the over all!

Genetics doesn't stop people from trying to get better jobs and/or make more money, just because they don't have the born brainpower of Stephen Hawking. Everybody has to make do with what they have, but don't use it as a crutch. I've never bothered to find my IQ because it doesn't matter. If I tested low I might lose motivation and not work hard. If I tested high I might rest on that and not work as hard. I'm going to try to be the best I can be regardless.
