Steak Vs. Ground Beef

I've always thought that the Anabolic Diet (CKD) just didnt work for me, as I always looked worse the following day after eating like that and got bloated after each meal. I believed it was the high fat intake and I my body didnt metabolize it properly. My staple foods were always eggs, bacon, and ground beef (between 80% to 90% lean). These foods always make me bloated, but with chicken and lean steak i'd look tighter after the meal and the following day. I realize now that I probably
1. Have an egg allergy
2. Nitrate allergy which could cause bloating from the bacon
3. Ground beef I buy may have soybean flower or another cheap filler that I often hear about being added to increase the weight of ground beef to make companies more money. I get my beef from sams club.
The reason I believe ground beef has filler is b/c Charles Poliquin said it was common in one of his seminars, I've read about it from a few sources on the net, and I always get bloated from it, but today I had a Rib-eye steak, which is VERY fatty, and I didnt get bloated from it. I was shocked, it further supports that its not the fat in steak I have a problem with, but rather some other crap added to the ground beef. After eating the steak I tightened up like I would have from eating Top Round or Eye Round Steak (very lean). Anyone else have this problem with Ground beef, eggs and bacon, or am I the only one? So maybe the Anabolic Diet is right for me, I just need to be more selective of my sources of food. I might try using uncured bacon from a butcher w/out the Nitrates in it and see how my body resonds.

The anabolic diet should not bloat you-the only time you should get the full feeling is after the carb up day-steak certainly should not be causing bloated feeling

PwB, does any other food(s) make you feel bloated? Sometimes I feel that way after bacon, but I attribute it to the salt in the bacon and the increased fluid intake to compensate.

Lean meats... definately :) Thumbs up to the local butcher shop. Big supermarkets just can't compare imo. I find sometimes I have trouble digesting a protein meal after a workout (late night, before bed), feel bloated and can't sleep...so I take an enzyme capsule. Helps. Most times I try to avoid late night work outs just for that reason.

The same thing happens to me (i get my meat from Sams too). The fattier the meat, the more full i get, and the less i eat. From what i've read, feeling bloated occasionally while on a keto diet is normal, what i can't find is specifically why although i must admit its not a subject that i've dug into. If there is fat on the edges of the meat, i always cut it off. Fatty meat is also much richer in flavor to me. Also, since fat intake is irrelevant, i don't hesitate to eat it. At one point i was eating a lot of lean meat, and a lot of protein (lots of fish) and i actually inhibited my weight loss. It resumed when i cut those meats down a bit and replaced them with red meat. It almost seems like lean meats are more appropriate for the meals that you eat after you've reached your weight loss goal and you've added more liberal amounts of carbs back into your diet. Not to say that they are bad, because they aren't. Lean meats are the perfect food.

I guess it depends on your personal tolerance levels. For me personally, i HAVE to keep my fat intake up in order to keep my weightloss on track. I have a feeling that my carbs are going to end up leveling out to about 40 or 50 grams a day after i reach my goal.
