I used to have shitty legs(compared to my upper body), but the last 3 years I have really focused on my squats. My legs are now pretty much comparable to my upper body.
One thing that was a great help to me was getting myself a power rack(I work out at home). My poundages have increased greatly.
Nothing beats the feeling of topping your old max. squat!
