i am 6'3" weigh 180lb, have a decent build. i have been lifting for about three months solid and am seeing results. i am not bulking, or cutting really, just want to get toned. i really want to slim my midsection down this winter, what should i add to my lifting routine? cardio when and how often? fatburners or no fatburners? what to eat? etc.

Alot of it is diet and cardio. Until you lose the bf, you won't see the musculature in your abs. I've heard to hit your abs from many different angles when you exercise, and mix up your workouts. The AF Guys website has some good fat burners.

I am certainly no expert. Read alot. There is a wide range of good info on these boards.

Good Luck!

swap,

It's all pretty much a game. Your goal is to slim up and be toned. First of all there is no way to isolate your thighs, abs, butt or anything when losing weight. Where you lose it at is all based on genetics and is different with everyone. So, basically the bottom line is to cut or bulk up... one or the other. I don't know what your diet is like, but it will all boil down to you counting your calories and eating clean. Pintoca has an awesome cutting calculator on here somewhere. It will tell you what you need to do to start shredding that fat off.
Cardio is not a necessity to lose fat. It will aid it, but then again it comes to the numbers game on how many calories your eating to how many your burning off. This all depends on your diet.
To be 6'3" and 180 pounds you must not have very much fat on you already. Start hitting those abs hard with some weighted situps a couple times a week. The bigger they are, they seem to push through a little quicker! As far as what food to eat.. are you asking for specifics? Dig through these forums. There are tons of recipes and diet plans on here. Also go into the lifting forum and look through some of the journals. That will give you a good idea of what is working for others. Hope this helps..

I hate the word "toned" as it does not define anything...

please explain this " i am not bulking, or cutting really, just want to get toned."

from the looks of it, I'd say you want to cut

LOL, EXACTLY the same thing I was thinking. I hate that fucking word... "toned". It's not putting on muscle, not dropping fat, just making an area "firm".

Sorry, no offense swap. Since you said you want to slim down your midsection it sounds like you want to cut. You need to get on a low-cal diet, do cardio (many recommend doing it first thing when you wake up, on an empty stomach, either HIIT or mid-low intensity), and hit the weights just as hard as you're doing now to prevent muscle LOSS. A thermogenic fat burner like Thermorexin (pills, overall metabolic stimulant) and/or Yohimburn (lotion, local fat reduction) may help. You need to do some research. Start reading these boards a lot. It may take some experimentation to decide what works for you. It's going to take time. The most bodyfat you can lose is about 1.5-2 lbs. a week. The rest is water and/or muscle. Good luck!

yes, in a way i am cutting, but i am still lifting quite heavy. think of it this way, i am culking....j/k, thanks for the tips guys.

so should i start doing more cardio and taking fatburners? i only do cardio once or twice a week.
