PW Food Choice - whole foods

To those who eat a fast acting carb source posttraining, what is your typical choice? I always have 50g of whey and pw supplements, but my carb source changes as I get bored....what do you do? How many carbs do you shoot for?

I either go:
1.5 cups white rice

or
1 cup white rice w/ 4oz yam

or

2-4 cups cold cereal

total of about 50-60 carbs

weight gainer shakes usually cover my needs.....but i useed to take 40-50gms whey with a peanut butter and jelly sanwich on white bread

my shakes usually dont have too much fat, and p&b sandwichs dont have alot either ( im not fan of large amounts of peanut butter)....whats wrong with a little fat post workout?

I do the same as you bro, I use 60 g of whey then either 50-60g of carbs from sweet potatoe or 2 servings of cream of rice cereal with raisins and a touch of cinnamon.

Whole food post workout except for whey helps to keep bf down while still getting in a good carb load.

some good choices would be raisins, a banana, or even gator-ade, along with some whey protein. You need simple sugars (carbs) that your body will break down fast....

fats will slow down digestion and inhibit the fast, crucial breakdown of simple carbs and protein. Milk is also a bad idea post-workout because it's slow-digesting (casein protein).

Gatoraid is crap - 100% apple juice is probably the best source of simples pwo. Gatoraid is high in HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup). Terrrible for the gut.

Well typically a bodybuilder wants to get carbs into the blood as quickly as possible to spike insulin levels so most will advise to hit a carb drink immediately pwo. But whatever works for you bud. Sorry for the highjack. Gatoraid is junk though. :)
