pissing me off

ok so my rents are really pissing me off...just came in from running and my wonderful mother goes, "Are u still lifting those weights? You don't want to get big. ..I noticed your legs are looking a little bigger these days." I told her that it's because they're more muscular and a lot of it is from running...i also told her (and my father who agrees with her) that I'd rather have muscle than be a bone. They just can't seem to understand that lifting helps people form better shapes (i guess they're cardio kings, unfortunately neither of them really exercise much). Sorry guys...just wanted to vent...they just pissed me off and think they know everything :mix:

I'd throw in a tater too, and then an hour later, I'd act like I hadn't eaten in like a century. Oh, and make it a point to wear really tight shirts and comment on how tight they are around your upper arm. Even do it in a low voice for added suspicion.

Hehehe...I seem to have mastered freaking out mom.

She can also start burping while watching football. That'd be kinda cool.

spatts: I just like to freak out people. :D

haha yeah i'll keep all those in mind. Last week my mother says, "you're arms look bigger than they have before. You don't want to get big arms. How much do you weigh now?" That's my parents for ya. Please I've spent way more time researching this stuff. They read one article in "woman's world" or "newsweek" and they're sold.

LOL

It just goes to show people speak of what they know.

My father was a body builder in the 60's - I wish I had the photos - anyway, when I was about 19 I had my first real hardcore summer and he was thrilled. Anyone that came over, anyone of his friends on the phone he would announce "my daughter is body building". It's probably one of my best memories of my father.

:D

My mom says she'll adopt you, jenny. :D

I got her into weight training several years ago to help her osteoporosis, and she takes great pleasure in flexing for friends now; woman's got better legs at 55 than most girls have at 25.

You guys are a riot. I can see im going to really enjoy being part of this forum. Its great to have the laughs along with all the great info.

yeah my mom's idea of weight lifting is the ol' lifting a 1 lb water bottle in each hand trick. (that'll give her the big guns alright)

Don't give up - they may come around. My Mom is finally starting to accept and get interested in my BB life; of course, it took 10 years of putting up with "ewh - that muscle looks awful" and "women can be strong in other ways, just not physically" kind of comments before they started to accept I'm gonna do this for the rest of my life. My brothers and sisters have been very supportive, which has helped.
