Open a hardcore gym?

Cool. Good luck bro.

No offense dude, but I wouldn't join anyplace that had the word "Center" in it. Sounds to close to a "Fitness Center" to me.

I would probably name it "Power Pit" or "Palace of Pain". YOu know, something to scare off the yuppie gym rats.:D

One thing to consider: those yuppie gym rats pay for things like electric bills, business licenses, equipment and upkeep, etc.

The new years resolution types who flood the gyms this time of year are a pain in the ass, but the fact is that those memberships that they buy and never use help to pay to keep my benches padded and for new toys.

Also, hardliners are not exactly known for their bank accounts, so I wouldn't expect to get rich on this idea.

Hopefully, I will have Mammoth Barbell up and running by May. I have all kinds of money saving tips. PM me if you want.

Gyms go out of buisness all the time. I bet you can find some used equipment and basement prices, or lease returns. Can you talk your current gym into building a dungeon?

I dont mean to shut down your idea but those people who pay for memberships and never come in are the lifeblood of the industry. Not only is the gym making money, it is also keeping itself a lot less crowded allowing more people to sign memberships. Now a 'hardcoure gym' , you will be seeing all the members there like most of the week, so you will have a lot less paying members but your place will be a lot more crowded. Plus, i dont know how many hardcore lifters there are in any particular area.
I personally would perfer to lift in a gym like you have mentioned. Where the space is used for equiptment that people like us use, unlike common gyms with two bench presses that you have to get in line for but a whole slew of machines. I like your idea, but im not sure if it is financially feasible. Just my thoughts.

Very true.

I totally agree. I was just supporting his original idea of a "hardcore only" gym.:)
