So, what you're saying is that you can't work out @ school?? You can only work out when you're home from school?? And you're going home soon & want to do 2 hours of cardio a day??

I don't see any reason why you need or should be in the gym more than 45 mins to 1 hour in a session. Also, I don't think you need to do exteme amounts of cardio either.

Post up your stats -- do it!! No reason to be embarrassed -- we've all started somewhere!! Start keeping track of what you eat, like thru www.fitday.com & let healthy eating do the work for you!!

And ask as many questions as you want!!

IMO, unless you are training for a show and following a diet plan fit for competitors, I do not think doing that much cardio will do anything but wear you out, help you repeat the cycle of setting sick and stop working out again ...

You'll be amazed at what happens when you re-work your diet and make healthier food choices.

Best of luck :rose:

Wow I am way in over my head. Its not that I cant "work out at school" its just that I kinda let my self go a bit and I figure cardio will help me lose some of the flab I put on in the last 6 weeks. You are right about excessive cardio!!! Is 5-6 days a week 1hr a day better? Its a little hard for me to do the weight training here at school b/c this gym SUX!!! I have to rent a lot of the weights here and the weight room is FULL Of horny, sweaty guys that CANT STOP STARRING AT ME!!!!! Its a little uncomfortable and the gym I go to at home is 200% better for what i want to do. I will get my stats on here and I will post my workout plan really soon. As far as diet, I am eating healthy as can be again. I will post that as well the same day I post my work out routine!
No comments on the creatine and glutamine???

No, It's still too much!! When you plateau, as everyone does, will you do cardio 7 days a week, 4 hours a day?? Cut back on the cardio -- let your healthy eating do the work for you!!

As for weight training -- ignore the guys & GO!! Adding more muscle to your body will cause your body to burn more calories simply sitting around.

As for the creatine/glutamine -- I'd hold off for now, but I'll let others chime in 1st......

Thanks a lot for the advice!! The stuff I have going on with school is a bit too much (finals coming up) so I cant make this my life just yet! Thats why I was thinking of just cardio for the 3 weeks I have remaining here! BUT i will listen to the experts and start slowly . So does 45 min cardio sound good? 5 or 6 times a week? as well as some weight training?? I just dont want to start this half ass . Am I making any sense? What would you do if you were me>??

If I were you, I'd not even do cardio for 45 mins 5-6 days a week. Maybe 2-3 days HIIT + 1 day steady state. Add in weight training.

If I were you, I'd start keeping a journal of what you eat & work on eating better, if you're not already.

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training.

With HIIT you can spend less time doing cardio & get more out of it in less time. So, for example, take a treadmill & get on it for, say, a 30 min. duration. Out of that 30 mins --> 5-10 min warmup, then run as fast as you can for 1 minute, recover for 1 minute by walking or jogging slower. Do this for 6,7,8,etc cycles. 1 cycle = 1 min run + 1 min recovery period. Cool down for 5 minutes.

You can do HIIT for 20 minutes, etc.....

Steady state is, say, when you walk at the same pace & incline the whole time you are on the treadmill.

As for the weight training, I'd do 1 bodypart per day. Ie: legs, arms, shoulders, back, chest. Or you could do a push/pull/legs routine.

Wow! It's so inspiring to hear the progress of others! Way to go! You've made awesome progress already!

I agree with Jenscat. HIIT is awesome-- time really flies when you're paying attention to the intervals and you'll be floored by how much you can kick your butt in a shorter amount of time. I don't do HIIT for more than 20-25 minutes. I'd do that 2 times a week and do a 45-60 minute moderate amount of cardio once a week. That's it for me. Not to minimize the importance of cardio, but I think that a clean diet and heavy lifting is more important.

If I did an hour of cardio 6 days a week I think I would die. I agree that's not necessary unless you're doing a competition. Welcome to EF!
