multivatimin....two a day?

I take mine --CENTRUM--once a day according to the label but I have heard that some take two of those on a daily basis.

Would two more than suffice?

NY Times Magazine did a report on multivitamins last spring that said there is very little evidence that they are beneficial to one's health. In fact, in excess, certain things are more harmful than helpful. It was an enlightening article, and one I'm sure the multivitamin companies don't want people to read. Although a multivitamin sounds nice, I think they are often misused.

Anyone else think multivitamins are overrated?
Any multivitamin authority has any input?

karma will be rendered for any knowledgeable explanations s to the use and benefits of vitamins.

I believe that there is plenty of every mineral/nutrient in just one centrum. However, there are always absorbtion issues with anything humans consume... as a result I would see better results taking 5 1/5th sized pills throughout the day

I normally take two multi's a day. One in the a.m. with bfast and one around 3 p.m. with an afternoon snack (iron free vitamin). I believe vitamin c gets depleted throughout the day as well as other nutrients, then again, that's heresay and stuff I heard

For the average fat ass american who eats his 5000 calories w/o having any physical activity, a multivitamin may be useless

But we are, I mean here, on EF, people who train hard, push much iron and/or spend much time doing cardio

So we have needs, in vitamins and minerals, that other people don't have

=> a multi is actually one of the most effectibe supplement and you should take one

If possible not a Centrum which is very poorly bioavailable

And you'd better take low dosages 2 or 3 times a day rather than huge dosages once a day

Vitamins IMO are extremely important for all athletes and bodybuilders. Each cell in out body gets a free radical hit approxiamately 10,000 times a day. Multiply that by the number of cells in our bodies and the number is astronomical. IMO those not supplementing with proper vitamins and minerals are short changing not only their health but also their bodybuilding or athletic endeavors.

Athletes need more anti-oxidants and b vitamins that sedintary individuals. Two a day will be ok, but may or may not be beneficial to you. One needs to watch their total intake of vitamin A (10 times the RDA could be toxic) as well as B-6 (taking 10 b-complex vitamins a day could causes toxicity from excess B-6) and vitamin K (again, limit yourself to 7 or 8 multi-vitamins a day), in order to avoid toxicity issues.
