Hey guys, my shoulder hurts a lot when I do any chest exercise, so I decided to get an MRI.. Came back
Completely negative. The doctor said I should visit a physical therapist to see if they can do some work on it, but idk if it's worth it or not.. Anyone ever have a similar experience? I haven't worked out in a few months and it still hurts

I have iverlapoing tendons in my left, shoulder went thru, same deal until I went to,see a chiropractor.
He to two fingers and oressed them into,my right armpit, nothing....did the same to my left armpit and I buckled.
A few adjustments and five minutes later all better. I,go once every two wks while im lifting.
I cant telk what your problem is but a good chiro is worth a shot.
My chiro is awesome a 15 year vet at strongman comps! Hes hurt everything, not just read about it in a medical book lol
Try the finger test on ur armpit see what happens!

Going through the same thing right Now. I have a ac sprain

injuries suck. too bad we aren't made of steel like robots.

gotta be careful and listen to your body.. if it hurts then don't do it. don't take anti-inflammatories and keep pounding away and make the problem worse and worse.

i've had my fair share of injuries and none of them were weightlifting related. one is a football injury, another was from running. both problems i'm afraid i will have to deal with for the rest of my life.

anything with soft tissue damage may never heal .. bone heals, muscle heals. cartilage, tendons, ligaments take forever to heal on their own or will never repair themselves.

chiro and pt
pt pt pt pt pt...it is absolutely worth a shot if its a good physical therapist

hubs recently creamed his back deadlifting but as it turns out the VA undertreated him for an existing injury and out and out lied that everything was all honky dory...if they had sent him to pt and I had known that the injury was still I probably would have modified his training routine quite a bit

cartilage and ligament damage should have shown up on MRI...thats not to say that it isn't there and they didn't catch it....sometimes ct scan with contrast catches shit MRI misses...but I only speak from experience with my knees...I don't know enough about it

but yes, try pt...it won't be a waste if theyre good...they'll find muscle imbalances you had no idea you had

PT - absolutely.

I was diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome. I have been in PT for 6 weeks now. Mine was likely caused by muscle imbalances and aggrevated by using a keyboard and mouse for 10 - 12 hours a day.

I was doing dips when a shoulder tendon impinged and then snapped free. The snapping sound was loud. I feel to my knees - the pain was intense. Icing it really helped. I don't like NSAID's and rarely take them so I use ice for pain relief.

PT is really making a difference. The key is to stick with it. Even after I am back to 100% I will continue to do the shoulder exercises / streches my PT has prescribed. I am also much more conscience of my postural habits that tend to create muscle imbalances.

the key with PT is to find a good one. the ones i have been to on my old crappy insurance are horrible. anytime i would make a suggestion or question anything they would get an attitude. if they are not willing to listen to my feedback then they are bad in my opinion, also if you go for several treatments and don't see improvement then they are bad as well. you should see some improvement and not just being a guinea pig they can suck up insurance money from.

same goes for any doctor. unfortunately the best ones are usually booked way ahead of time. it pays to know one personally who will hook you up.
