marine pushups

Initially I tried placing my arm close to my body, going for that tripod thing, but that didn't work at all. You're right, you'd place your hand in almost the normal pushup position - maybe a little higher - and I rotate my wrist in a little more than I would for a normal pushup. By normal pushup, I mean hands maybe a little wider than shoulder width.

yesterday was chest day...so for shits and giggles I tried some pushups with one hand up on a step. It wasn't as hard as I was expecting...then again, I didn't add on any steps either.

now for push ups with your legs up...I tried that too but felt that my hands were "too high" when I decended. I should be flexing my toes, right?? I'll bring my hands in next time and see how it goes...

btw, how often can I work on this? 2-3 x's a week?

nonerz, when I do these with my feet on a bench, gripping a barbell set on pins, my body is WAY forward at the top of the movment to allow for my hands to be in the right position when I come down. Otherwise, I end up in the exact situation you described. I have to get "over the bar."

Can you paint a picture for me using the bands on this one? As you said, you've got it around your back and one end in each hand. Then with the bands in hand, do you grip the bar?

I'll start without the bands until the movement becomes somewhat familiar to me...then I'll upgrade to the bands for more of a challenge. :) And to think that chest day is not my favorite. Maybe this'll spice things up a bit!

thanks for the vid...

what's the advantage of doing off a bar? working your grip? whatever--me like!

:D
