Leg Training Tip For Old Timers

I've found I just can't train legs like I used to. It isn't even a matter of strength, it's more the risk of injury.

So what I started doing was back to back training days of legs. Do a good workout, but not kill myself. Then the next day do ANOTHER leg session. In this way I really hit the muscles without piling too much on at one time and winding up with a broken back or a torn meniscus.

Father time sucks. But if you're smart you can outwit the rat bastard.

NICE NM!
Sounds like a dam good plan to me bro.

Very interesting. I've been toying with a similar idea myself recently. Same bodypart workout 2 days in a row, to sort of shock the muscles. Tried it this week after I wasn't satisfied with my monday workout (especially the tricep part of it) so on tuesday, I re-did triceps.

Your saying hit quads and hams on consecutive days right? Not splitting the load of quads today, hams tomorrow?
My left acl needs to be replaced and the medial meniscus fixed. So going real heavy with legs gets my knee joint sore for a few days. Squatting is basically out unless i were to do box squats. The leg sled seems to be ok up to 900 lb or so.

Yeah, hams and quads are meant to be worked together. My knees are bad too. Had meniscus surgery. I can;t take any chances. I do box squats and or partials on the leg press , then immediately go to full squats with just a bar for 20 reps. Sounds easy? TRY IT! Killer leg pump. Do that 2 days in a row and you won't feel guilty that you're not training legs hard enough.

Good stuff! My coach squats up to 90% the day before he hits 95%+ every week. He also squats 5-10x a week, sometimes more...quite often 2x in the same session (beginning and end).

I actually had the right meniscus repaired already too. Now left medial and acl have to get done.
I was only planning on light (no more than 315) box squats and quad extensions thrown in at the end. Stiff leg deads for hams. I fucking love stiff leg deads. Once i can start training again ofcourse. Still on the shelf getting prolo every month.

I like stiff legs too but they are actually hard on the meniscus, as are leg extensions. Stiff legs pull as do leg extrentions on the negative portion. Neiter are natural movements. Squats are. Try high rep/high set partials on the leg press. People will thionk you're a pussy cause it looks like you're cheating but do enough and it add up. Good luck with the surgery.

I tore a tendon in my right elbow last year. When I started lifting again I did insanely light weights with minimal rest between sets and did the same routine every day. I did that for about two months before I was comfortable with what would normally be beginner weights.
