I remember saying that about the flat bench press once...and I didn't do it for a long time. I remember being stuck at 225 x 3 for months. Granted...I was not training properly to overcome that battle...but I was stuck for a long time. I picked a new exercise.

I did wide grip, elbows out dips for probably 6 months or more. I would do dips then incline presses. I remember really growing for a while and I would have killer dip sessions mainly because with every rep I was cussing the bench press.

The first time I went back to the flat bench press, I did 225 x 8 I think. Not completely for sure...but I am pretty sure I did get 8 reps with it.

Ever give up an exercise before????

Bench.

Gave it up for 6 weeks and did nothing but Inclines, dips and flyes.

MAx moved up 30 pounds after I went back
 
Don't have the photographic memory that my old workout partner had....glad you remember!!!!

Same here. Once I got into dbs, they are 75% of my chest workout. I do bar for variety as well, but moreso incline.
 
B-fold I gave up on almost any curl routine out there I hate curls....:mad: So all I did really was just barbell curls 3 sets after back and that is it. Now finally I am doing an arm day and the poundage I use is almost twice what I did when i started......
 
flat bench is the king,PERIOD!you can do all these weird exercise but you must bench,how else will you build upper body strength?the bench is like the squat to the legs
 
no it isnt, weighted dips are the squat for the upper body, flat bench sucks most strongmen dont do it at all, r u telling me they have small upper bodys? incline press and overhead strength is where its at if you want to be huge, our prissy society for some reason is just fascinated by bench, anyone can bench 300 pounds eventually, u show me a guy that can push press 400 and im impressed
 
weighted dips??what kind of idiot are you?!you mean to tell me they will build my chest,?????maybe tri's but you don't know what the hell you're talking about.and bythe weay i compete in bodybuilding not strongman.seems to me most of them are fat.so how much muscle is being built now,smart ass.have a great day:finger:
