How To Build A Bigger Back

private message from titanmale:

Lets see for developement ? Hyper Extentions or Dead lift. BEFORE YOU PROVIDE ME WITH ALL YOU EXPERIENCE AND WISDOM< ASK YOURSELF WHICH ONE WILL PROVIDE THE LARGEST RANGE OF MUSCLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE TRY TO SEPERATE IT THE TWO ALSO AS STRENGTH ISSUES. THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT STRENGTH ITS ABOUT BUILDING AND DEVELOPEMENT.

STRENGHT DOES NOT EQUAL SIZE OR DEVELOPEMENT. EXAMPLE PIC ANY PRO POWER LIFTER AND PIC ANY PRO BODYBUILDIER!!!!

GEEZ YOU GUYS CAN NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE!

>that went way over my head, wtf are you blabbing about?? I didn't mention anything about hyperextensions or "strength issues." WTF does "range of muscles" mean? I didn't mention shit about strength, I was talking about development as well. Learn how to fucking read.

Ok a few simple points:

Have you seen any pro powerlifters up close?? I mean real powerlifters not the fat boys in the gym who claim to be one? Go to a meet for good powerlifters and then come back and tell me that they arent "developed". BTW if you are going to harp on about how the exercises you mention are good for developemnt and then post pics you ought to at least look "developed".

As for your issues with Bfold and what you perceive as his intelligence level. Let me point something out to you: this is a DISCUSSION board. Guess what? If you post here people will DISCUSS what you say. Are you suprised by that? Why? It isn't a tough concept to grasp.

You are 260? with those stats? ah ok. You mean off-season you are 260 right? I do submission grappling.....we get alot of badass bodybuilders turning up thinking they'll wipe the floor with everybody. It takes a little guy about 20 seconds to adjust that attitude for them. It takes a skilled big guy (powerlifter/strongman comp) even less time. You might say they get crushed. So I think that you aren't so tough. On the other hand I might think twice about arguing with a Strongman competitor who knows how to use every ounce of his bodyweight.

Last point.....please PLEASE don't act intellectually superior to others on here. You would be suprised what alot of guys here do for a living. Just because just about EVERYBODY disagrees with you and you cant find the words to argue doesnt mean that you have to act like a little kid. Your first posts were quite good.....now you are acting like a baby. Were we meant to look at your pics and think "wow he's huge, I wish I was like him"? And just jump to your type of training? I think your insecurities are showing here......hence the "I know what I'm talking about I'm a judge" post.

Later.

Develop: to cause to become gradually fuller, larger, better, etc.
Development: a developing or being developed.

Hmmm...Mr. Webster seems to put it quite nicely. Funny he didn't mention anything about being cut :)

Size: that quality of a thing which determines how much space it occupies; dimensions.

It appears that the title of this post was "How to build a bigger back". Neither your post title nor your first series of post said anything about being cut or how to cut up your back. So...being a "Fat Boy" I should think about looking at a diet huh? Would that cut me up? So...what you are saying is that it is the diet and not the exercises that you do which will give me your so called "muscular development?" Then what are you arguing for?

You are arguing about my concerns about someone not doing deadlifts, because deadlifts are not going to muscularly develop and cut your back yet you must diet to have a cut=muscularly developed back? You are going in circles. Maybe you should think about what you are trying to say here because I am not understanding. Maybe it is the fat.

I kept this post simple, with back training and the deadlift and other things that you can do to develop your back. I did not say anything about your fanny pack, the fact that you wear gloves and baggy pants, or that you have tiny arms. I refrained from that. I also did not mention the veins or the cross-striations that this "Fat 'Boy" has all across his thighs. His 30.5" thighs!!!

I don't appreciate being called stupid either. I never called you stupid. If you would like to get personal, I can give you directions to my home and we can have a little fun. Well...lots of fun.

Congrats on being a NPC judge. You can spend some time looking at men in their undies and judge their muscular development. Obviously I have no idea what I am talking about and have no clue about how to become a muscularly developed person. I mean...it was just God's gift that I have trained myself from the lower 150's to over 300lbs. Had nothing to do with muscular development. I just came out of my mother's womb at 300 and dieted down to 152 for the fun of it...did some chins and pulley rows with a few cable crosses, put on some gloves and a POWER LIFTING BELT when I did my pulley rows, and just blew up 150lbs in a couple of years.

A powerlifting belt. Ha ha...you don't deserve it. I don't care how much you can cable curl or how well developed your anterior tibs are...whoopty freakin' dooo. I'm glad that you are so pretty and get all of the chicks. Must be terrible to have to wear clean gym clothes with a matching outfit to the gym.

Don't care how much you lift...sure...just be small all of your life. Do you think that you are gonna be a big boy on stage? I will be in 3 weeks. I'll be out there with some of the best that the US has to offer. I'll be the youngest and the newest and plan on making a large dent in the comp. Good luck with your gloves.

Plain and simple point, our goals are much different. I was simply trying to help and give you advice that I believe that can help you. You had fun being personal about it. I believe that you have made yourself look very ignorant on this post, but I don't care. I still hope that you take the time to do some heavy deadlifts and pack on some mass. Besides...are you big enough yet? Why not eat some serious food, lift hard core for a while, pack on some mass and grow a pair of balls, then diet and cut back up. Lots of pro's train hard core, several train with Louie Simmons at west side a few months out of the year.

Just look at Franco Columbo...naaa...did he really do dealifts and power lift?
Wait...didn't he do a strongman contest too? No way!!!!!

If you ever have any questions about how to become a big human...feel free to ask.

God Bless

Funny Dutch, Lets see if I can correct your context. I have never said powerlifters arent inshape. Everything I have written has been in the context of "THIS IS WHAT I DO" I am even very fond of Magnus. BUT in "context" when it comes to size and "developement" Do you think Magnus even for a moment comes close to RONNIE COLEMAN. Now here are Two of the Best at what they do. Bodybuildier and Powerlifter. Of which two do you think best show "MUSCULAR Developement".

Furthermore "TOUGH GUY" I don't care how many Horace Gracie videos you watch and think you are a now the second coming of "Jean Claude Van Damme" ,or "Frank Shamrock", or any other artist you may want to lay claim too. I have never stated on here what I do "either" so you might be just as suprised. I don't need to brag or make implications about how well I can take care of myself or Anyone Else for that matter. What I have stated is I train hard, I compete, I work with in the community as a judge. The things I choose to discuss I prove, ie. comp photos, and training photos. I ll see if can find a photo of the judging and post that too if it will make you happy. Finally I have very few insecurities and the least of which are whether you agree with me or not.

Most importantly: Franco Columbo was a great bodybuildier and strongman. If he competed today; He would not win his way out of the Nationals. Times they have changed!

Secondly: I m glad you discovered a dictionary.

Thirdly: You are absolutely rite about my post name. Building a bigger back. But Bigger is not better if its out of proportion and doesnt offer improvement to the asthetic presentation of the body.

Fourthly: I dont care how Straited you say you are. I just left a National qualifing contest. If your fore mentioned contest is NPC Bodybuilding Event, and any of your pictures are recent that you have posted here on the Elite, get yourself ready to fail miserably or pray you are in a class with only a few competitors. I can say this with complete authority: the number one factor now in Judging is "Hardness". If you are not "hard" you are competing for 3rd-5th. Second is symetry: No Symetry or lack of balance between your muscle group you are competing for 3rd-5th. The next view is cut and finally size. Size is the 4th regarded point now. 4th!! So I really, I do, really hope you dont go to this competition and be "that guy" you know the guy I mean to. The guy that everybody says what is he doing here.

Fifthly: I dont care where you live in the HILLS of Kentucky. Spit out the snuff and brush your "tooth" hopefully you still have at least one. My time is way more valuable than to jet off to whip some punks ass.

Finally B Fold the "ignorant hillbilly", as I have stated on numerous replys here. I wrote out the routine for the guy who asked how to build his back. And I said this is how "I" do it. You and FUTCH can do deadlifts until you fall in the floor, I dont care. You can talk about all the great powerlifters, I dont care. I am can assure that the majority of bodybuildiers and from the prespective Im writing this DO NOT DO THEM! And the primary reason is a RISK Of INJURY preventing them then from competiting and the fact they yeild very little in muscular developement. WILL THEY MAKE YOU STONG: YES. DO I CARE NO!

Do I wear GLOVES: HELL YES. When I leave the gym I put on my "CUSTOM MADE" suit. <Yea when you got the 54 inch chest and 34 inch waist you have to have custom; NOT that I would wear any thing off the rack anyway.> I go out into the real world and negotiate with people who typically don't have hands that resemble someones who works in the field plowing all day. If you want thickly calused hands that resemble sand paper go ahead and get them its kinda like the Deadlifts if you want do them DO IT!!! But should you ever find yourself meeting an attractive lady with skin so soft, rub those caluses across her back and see how fast she bolts, OH WAIT you are from Kentucky all the women there have calusses on their backs what am I thinking. They won't even notice. I guess this information about KY women comes as a complete shock as Im sure you are still looking to meet your first woman. Best of luck Im sure you'll find "it" whoops sorry slip of the finger there "her".

Well this reply and this entire discussion has taken a left turn that it shouldn't have. This is my closing remark:
I POSTED MY BACK CONCEPTS FROM my view as a bodybuildier and to help the guy who asked for it. IF YOU FIND YOU NEED TO DO AN EXERCISE AND YOU CANT LIVE WITH OUT IT BY ALL MEANS DO IT!!!!!!!!! But stop telling me how wonderful and neccessary it is. There is no One exercise that must be done to accomplish any goal. If you dont believe that angles are important in developing muscular developement why did anyone bother to invent the INCLINE BENCH PRESS? Why do people do FLYS and not just Presses? Why do we have adjustable leg curls machines,
why are todays Physiques harder and more cut ,OH AND BIGGER than the ones in the 70's? Could it be the discovery of angles and better equipment, ( more chemical enhancement, this is an entirely different topic that goes into a different catagory).

"IDIOTS ALWAYS COME IN GROUPS..........MIGHT BE A LAW I DON"T KNOW"

I feel that this arguement is redundant. There is no sense arguing with you because you will continue to avoid the basic thought here.

Thanks for insulting my intelligence again. I appreciate that. I am also proud to be from Kentucky, and you can probably ask a few people around that have met me if I really am an idiot.

I said nothing about being in a NPC contest. I am competing in a strongman contest and will probably be the leanest 300lber there. I train and eat for my sport, not yours. I did not say that you must do deadlifts to be a bodybuilder. I never said that anyone must do deadlifts.

My original arguement was that the reason that one should not do them should not be because they will kill your lower back. Still...if you say that rows will put a lot of torque on your back...why do you do them? I'd ask your chiropractor about them if I were you. Better yet...you could call up Dr. Columbo and ask him about them...he's a chiropractor that does deadlifts.

Whip my tail huh? Well...c'mon down. I'll even take you out in my truck to a few red neck places afterwards and buy you a beer and see if I can hook you up with some of the local barefoot and pregnants. See...Kentucky boys can be kind too:)

Can't wait till I meet my first woman. I've seen one from a distance a time or two I think. We took the horse and buggy to town a month ago and I'm pretty sure I saw one...or maybe Bubba had just let his hair grow out...not for sure.

TITAN, at what point are you going to understand that I am honestly trying to help you? All joking and insulting aside, I do believe that you can do deadlifts and improve your back. You offered your opinion and I have offered mine. I have and continue to do them and you do not, but it is IMPORTANT to do the in my sport. Very important. At one time I thought that I could be a bodybuilder, yet I still did deads and they really helped put on size and shape to my back. I also realize that I can have ripped abs with a 38" waist...not good. My body is not built for bodybuilding, it is built for strength, and I am good at it.

Titan, if you still wish to insult me and where I am from, then go ahead, I really don't mind even though it does deep down inside hurt. I have fun on this board and am probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. All I offer is my time and my opinions and hopefully a few good laughs.

God Bless

Re: From IMDUTCH

Where did I say that you said powerlifters are not in shape?? I didnt. I said top powerlifters can be well developed. That is me correcting you correcting my context :)

Here is a quote from my last post:

"Have you seen any pro powerlifters up close?? I mean real powerlifters not the fat boys in the gym who claim to be one? Go to a meet for good powerlifters and then come back and tell me that they arent "developed"."

Note the last word is DEVELOPED!!

If you are going to use names of top grappling competitors to demonstrate your knowledge you had better get them right!! Otherwise it doesnt look good. You mean Royce Gracie right? The guy who stops guys a hundered pounds heavier than him....? Or one of the other family members? Heres the family tree (see link)....which did you mean?

http://bjj.org/family.html

I never said anything about being the second coming of anything tough guy......just stated facts. Where did this come from? Go ahead post a quote!! It came from inside you. Big "tough" bodybuilders dont get very far against these little guys. This is a fact. You wanted to come it and tell everybody how you werent afraid cos you weigh so much. I just put you straight and gave you some facts. Twist it around to suit your end if you wish. The thread is there for all to see. But of course in doing this you just make yourself look even sillier. Such is life.

BTW you already bragged about how you arent afraid of being crushed and you already implied that you can take care of yourself. So your point is mute. You say that you dont brag.....and you did in several posts. Dropped those suckers in really subtle too.

I'm out.....

PS: I think with that last post to Bfold you just lost any support you might have from other members. Petty and childish as I said in my other post. Thankyou for proving my point for me :)

PPS: Your example of great development, Ronnie Coleman, does deadlift. He has the world believe that he deads 800. You are not telling me that he made that up are you? Bodybuilders dont actually make things up so they look better do they???
