Glute Ham Raise Machine...

Deciever

New member
well i was in my school gym, and i look over and what do i see? A GHR machine..so i went over and triied it , and it was pretty easy( i think i did it right)... i was amazed at home much different in f elt from my makeshift one. The calve board at the end really made a difference , and just the feel of it....... i want one now!

I tried a glut ham machine for the first time on Sunday. Could
not do the raise by myself. My partner had to help me. I could
really feel it from my lower back to the back of my knees.

I liked the machine so much that I called Dave Tate and placed
an order for one. While I was at it I ordered a reverse hyper
pro and a combo power rack. My wife is not too happy about
what I had to pay for this stuff. Oh well, sometimes you just
gotta have what you gotta have. :D

Brian, how is your home gym coming along?

You are probably going through some of what I am. This stuff is
expensive. Really puts a hurting on the credit cards.

I still have to go to Home Depot to get some wood to build a
platform for the power rack. I have not yet found a place that
has large chains. Home Depot and the other hardware places
have the small chains, no big ones. I also need some big
dumbbells to secure the bands.

Once I get everything together, should have a very nice home
setup. :)

Home gym is all set up. And you are right, it is a bit tough on the budget.

As far as chains go. Call Toppers if you have plenty of bucks, or what I did, was just buy three times as much 3/8 inch chain. My 3 strands per side of 3/8 weighs the same as the Topper's 5/8 chain, and my whole set up was about fifty bucks.

For the power rack platform, I purchased 2 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood, and then put two 3/4 inch rubber mats on top of the plywood, then bolted the rack down on top of the rubber. If you ordered a rack from Dave, you will not need dumbells to hold down the bands, you can choke them around the bottom of the rack, because his racks have 4 inches of clearance on the sides.

My base is 6 foot by eight foot, and we squat bench and deadlift all inside or just outside of the racks, and it works great.

When you get yours put together it will rival Irishpower's home gym. Next stop, 2k total.

Mincher has a nice set-up. I really enjoyed training at his home gym. Top-notch equipment.

Geno_O, it sounds like you will have a sweet set-up yourself. Congratulations. I'm jealous of all you guys that get to train at home.
