Funniest/Stupidest advice you hear at the gym???

Some kid that asked me for a spot on his last set, I asked if he wanted to do a drop set: "No I'm not doing drop sets today, I'm not really trying to loose fat right now..."

Some trainer: "protein is overrated, you really don't need more that .5g/lb of body weight per day--that's at the absolute most."

Different trainer: "there's really no reason to do calf work, they are the only muscle on your body that's completely predetermined by genetics so there's nothing you can do to improve them..."

Some kid to another kid doing "squats": "Dude, you gotta stay on your toes through the whole rep, otherwise you can't do enough weight to really grow plus your calfs won't develop either."
 
I have to agree with everyone who mentioned the people at gyms who say they don't want to get too big (i'm talking about pro-bodybuilder big). I just laugh at them, and tell them they couldn't get that big if their life depended on it. They have no clue. They probably think all they need is some Cell-tech to sport 21 inch guns.

Why do GUYS usually feel they got short-changed on genetics while WOMEN (the ones who are afraid to train heavy and have never even tried it) think they're "cursed" with freaky muscle-building genes that will turn them into the Incredible Hulk if they lift more than 10 lbs?

I WISH I would turn into the incredible hulk..... My arms are still puny looking.... wah... gues it'll take more than 2-3 months of lifting to become the hulk :) .

People keep saying "if you do weights you will build muscle" I say YES! That's what I WANT! I WANT lots of big muscle...
