Funniest/Stupidest advice you hear at the gym???

I think that the one-arm pullup is a showoff move. I mean, nobody is realistically going to do sets of one arm pullups, they're just showing everybody in the gym that they can do them. I can do a one arm pullup with the slight assistance of my other hand grabbing my wrist. But I certainly don't do them for reps.

Many climbers can do sets of these.......realistically.

What is 'slight' assistance of my other hand? You could conceivably using both arms to their full extent.

i think he means wrapping his free hand around his other wrist to make the pullup a little easier..

Here's a few:

If you drop the weights like that again i'll have to ask you to leave."

How were you droping them? It's one thing to let them down a little hard, but I've seeen guys literally throw weights down. Even little DB's. All this does is break everything so that no one can use them and the Gym Dues go up. I mean come on. No matter how tired you are, you should be able to at least lower them, not drop them.

I'm not singling anyone out. This is for everybody!

Weights are weights!! It is hard to damage a 120lb dumbbell. Besides, when you are incline dumbbell pressing 120lb dumbells do you mean to tell me to gently set them on your lap. Get real!! Those SOBs are going to the floor.

I wasnt throwing them down or anythign, i just set them down a little harder than i would if they were, say, 40 lb dumbells. Not hard enough to break anything.

Some guy who was afraid to bench over 120 because he thought it would screw up his running wonders why his abs are bigger than his pecs.
