burning inside: yep I know atkins isn't meant to bulk up on, and you're right, you can expect to loose some when you diet, but you can also expect to gain some when you are anabolic in periods where muscle glucose uptake will be maximized, and all this glucose + protein and insulin release will build muscle, with minimal to no fat gain, and that fat + more will be burned off at other times.. therefore you can pretty much maintain.. I think CKD is a hell of a lot better thank a straight atkins diet for body builders, but as I see it, when after a workout, due to muscle contractions under heavy weights, glycogen depletion, glut4 transporters are increased, insulin release from our post workout carb shake will further increase, and muscles will absorb maximum amounts, therefor little can possibly convert to fat, far more likely to be stored in muscles and even liver without spillover assuming are values are correct.
tetragamma, hmm where are you getting your terms from.. it's "insulin" and "human growth hormone" during your weight lifting workout you will have lower blood sugar and HGH releases will happen then, as well as when you sleep. so this isn't a concern, have you read everything I've written?
who the fuck needs insulin?
people who want to gain muscle due to nutrient transport.
or people that hope to not loose total net weight muscle by the end of their diet (not to say during the diet you won't be loosing and gaining small amounts) but usually your net muscle weight will stay about the same if values are correct.
thought not unheard of to even gain small amounts or loose small amounts depending on how well you did things / genetics etc..
