I see many people posting diets and threads asking for critiques and advice... I am going to post some foods that should be avoided when you are cutting... I see a lot of common mistakes that people make when on a cut and I wanted to try to help as many as I can with their cutting diet...

AVOID...

Saturated fat
High calories from fat (more than half of total calories is not good!)
Sodium (some is okay but keep it to a minimum)
High amounts of sugar
High amounts of dairy
High fructose corn syrup
Hydrogenated Oils
Trans Fats
Carb loading
Juices
Soda

Some foods that have the misconception to be eaten on a cut that HINDER CUTTING

rice
potatoes
salmon
red meats
milk
soy

THESE ARE NOT GOING TO BE HELPFUL WHEN CUTTING...

I see a lot of people having these in their cutting diet and it is hindering your cutting... Trust me on this...

There are other things out there that are not helpful when cutting but these are some things that I see common mistakes being made with...

Only carb I eat while cutting is sweet potato. It is a complex carb and even though brown rice is as well the sweet potato is my choice. I also do not eat any carbs while cutting except in my post workout meal. I couldn't even tell you what regular potatoes taste like as I don't even eat those or white rice while bulking. Straight crap IMO. Great post D! Good info there bro.

i'm cutting and dylan recommended i back out my brown rice which i thought would be shitty but it actually hasn't been so bad. i'm workin at removing as many carbs as possibly and just incorporate a variety of veggies (mainly broccoli, cauliflower, spinach) which is going to have "some" carbs. also i'm taking in a good 15 - 30g carbs in shakes. i'd say at the end of the day i'm averaging about 50g/day. i've thought about picking up some ketosis strips just to check things out b/c i'm probably getting some light ketogenic action. now with that said, i'm curious if i should be doing a light carb day say sunday with some brown rice, sweet potatoes and beans. or maybe this is my subconscious trying to cheat a little... dylan thoughts?

thanks bro.. anytime for you! =)

the thing with rice, complex carb or not, i have found that it just doesn't work properly when cutting... ive not only experimented personally but tried it with others as well... its just something that needs to be avoided IMO... there are much better alternatives...

in theory, everyone will say you "need" a cheat day or its "okay" In DylanGemelli theory, its not okay... =) If you are a person that can deal with it and not explode after a while and just go nuts and eat everything in sight, then you should not cheat... if you absolutely need it, then its fine... I think you should get to where you want to be first before you start having cheat days... after you get there, then have one once in a while... it will only slow down your progress, dependent on your body... some people can bounce back quickly, but others, it will set them back quite a bit... know your body and be smart with it...

what other carb could be sub'd out instead of potato's and rice? More oats?

just spread it out throughout the day... don't be caught up in replacement... i get my carbs in small amounts throughout the day... add more veggies and fruits... oatmeal is good... buy the sugarless packets... they are only 100 calories, no sugar and get you some carb... sometimes a good cereal, special k for example will get you some as well...

thanks for the info. i thought fish like salmon would be good for losing weight

white fish is excellent for cutting... salmon on the other hand is a fatty fish... it may be cobsidered a "good fat" but not on a cut
