FLexy's PR's

King,

It feels great. The best was looking for my 35's only to find that the guy next to me was using them. It made me feel so good!!

Tonight is legs. I am planning on doing squats for the first time without the smith machine. It's gonna take a lot to convince my husband that i am ready, but after all the smith machine talk, I think I've been converted. Wish me luck!!

Oh and leg press tonight, I WILL do 4 plates for more than 3 reps. I can feel it!!!!

you'll do fine on those squats. i didnt actually start doin them till this year. just start with the bar and get your form perfect. before you know it, you will be wanting to do box squats, low box, front squats, zerchers. it's addicting. lol

Well, I have some good news and bad news.

I didn't do the free weight squats. I really tried, but I got the bar on my back and I felt all discombobulated(sp) and off balance. So I put it back. I think I'm gonna practice in the privacy of my own basement.

I also didn't do 4 plates on the leg press. My husband wanted to do that first and I wanted to reserve my energy for the squats. I did do 320 and I pushed out 6 on my own and 2 more with help.

Then I did my smith machine squats and did a plate for the first time in years!!! I only got 6 and my husband was yelling 3 more and the dumbest thing happened to me. I looked in the mirror and saw my stomach sticking out and I got so embarrased that I couldn't concentrate anymore and put the weight back. I wish I could get over my self conciousness when I am in the gym. It really sucks. Most of the time I just close my eyes.

So basically I have a lot to work on for this upcoming week. I will keep you all posted. Thanks so much for all the support. It is so appreciated!

Heh :) Don't worry about that, Flexy. It sounds like you're doing great.

IMO, you need to keep your eyes wide open when squatting. It helps to have a point on the mirror (or wall) to focus on; one of the worst things you can do is look down.

So, you might catch a glimpse of yourself in the process, but it's easy to avoid embarrassing yourself: wear a baggy T-shirt :)

Besides, *everybodys'* stomach sticks out when they do squats. Even the tiniest little bantamweight NPC guys, a week out from their shows, are gonna have some distention. Don't fret it :)

Anyone with whom you would want to know will be impressed by your work ethic and the fact that you are squating in the first place. Nice job on the leg press and keep it up. Have you considered a Home Gym? At least you could go nuts without being so self aware. I know I only workout my best when i am surrounded by the right kind of people. Usually I get frustrated at crowded meat market fitness clubs and can't even finnish my workout.

We have a really nice home gym and I'm too lazy to go down there and workout. There are spiders down there too!!!:(

I need the motivation of the gym, anyway. I usually wear really baggy clothes but I was feeling good about myself, and the gym is hot as hell, so yesterday I wore a tank, BIG MISTAKE.

It's all a mental game with me. I have gotten a lot better over the years, but there is still an evil wicked person in my brain that tries to talk me out of working out.

I hope to one day get to the point where I don't care what's going on around me. It takes time, I guess. Right now when I workout I am like a kid with ADD. If I see something move anywhere in my field of vision I get distracted.
