first high carb day........

ok today is my first high carb day after 5 days of 0-50 carbs. I weigh 240 lbs so i think im suppose to shoot for 700-800 carbs today. just eat my first meal after 45 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning. i had a cup of strawberries and then 30 minutes later i had 8oz lean ground beef, 6 rice cakes, and a big bowl of corn flakes. How was this for my first meal? This is my first time so please let me know if im doing something wrong. Next meal will consist of a shit load of white rice about 100 carbs worth.... thanks
 
I got good results with my carb up using relatively high glycemic index simple carbs for the first 3 meals and high GI complex carbs for the last 3. (No fructose for me. Fructose refills more liver glycogen and will not cause the same amount of glycogen resynthesis seen with glucose or sucrose) A liquid glucose polymer drink will work too. Make sure to try and aim for a 70/15/15 ratio, carbs/proteins/fats, and drink around 12 cups of water a day along with your meals. :)
 
As I mentioned, bagels, white potatoes, etc. Taper back toward the end of the day.

This is the time I would suggest to add some fructose.

Avoid fats.
 
Hmmm. I got the no fructose during your carb up advice from an old Lyle McDonald article. (And the time I tried this diet it was summertime when I was craving fresh peaches and pears. LOL) Think they're good at refilling muscle glycogen as opposed to primarily liver?
 
thats a fuckton of carbs, I max out at 300g's on carbup days and I weigh the same ballpark as you. I'd be afraid of 800 without, slin, T3 and GH to chase them with

I think toward the end of the day(and only then) it is not a bad idea to replace some liver glycogen.
 
ok just got done with workout did chest... man it was awesome having some carbs in my system. i had a great workout. i had my pwo protein shake and gatorade and then 30 minutes later had about 8oz lean beef and 100-120 carbs worth of whole wheat pasta. should this be my last carb meal of the day its 6:30 pm right now and plan on going to bed around midnight or 1:00 am tonight. I will also be doing about 30 -45 minutes of cardio around 8:00 this evening..... so should i stop with the carbs for the day or have another carb meal....
