Enlarged heart and HGH, also question for Ulter.

Are you saying weight training alone can cause an enlarged heart?
Yes. After 17 years of Powerlifting (9 before 1st cycle) my left ventricule is still in the normal range, but on the large side of it. This isn't considered harmfull, at least not by the cardiac doc's and EP specialists I've seen.

What is enlarged? The volume of your LV? The free wall thickness? Long term GH use at a decent dose will actually shrink the volume of your LV because it will increase the free wall and septal thickness.

I'm pretty sure it's the wall thickness. Doc said it looks like it's been working hard for some time. Which is atributed to my high blood pressure and working out for 15 years. High BP is in check now so I'm hoping to get some answers on how and if it will shrink to a certain degree. I was under the impression that free wall thickness is not such a good thing.

It really isn't if it's excessive. The thicker the walls the smaller the LV chamber becomes, which means less stroke volume (volume of blood pumped per phase of systole). Just keep you BP under control and be straight with your doc about GH use. Also, do some research. And I mean real research in medical journals. Your doc might just want to scare you out of taking something he or she knows nothing about.

About 1.5 years ago I was diagnosed with a thickened heart but if i remember it had to do with the left ventricle (not sure if it's the same issue as enlarged heart). I had the ekg, stress test, the works. It came back that it was not the bad kind of thickened heart but the kink typical in athletes.

Hence, about 6 months ago I finished a 7 month run of GH (test and winny also). I didn't have any heart problems or symptoms. Blood work was all fine afterwards. I haven't had any heart tests since but all is normal from before the GH.

Hope this helps.

4everhung, are you calling me a fool? You need to back up your comments with some reasoning, or keep your goddam faggot ass off my thread motherfucker.

EFcopperfish - The athlete type of enlarged left ventircle is what I currently have. Diagnosed when I was 21 (8 yrs. ago). Blood pressure has only been high these last two years. I have nothing to go on till the eco data comes in. I started the thread to see if anyone(yourself obviously) had this condition, and still used the GH with no problems. Also, I figured I would post something interesting for a change. All the moronic threads on here....daily, and I get called a fool for posting a subject that only a handful of the more knowledgable people on the board can even attempt to answer. Done with that. EFcopperfish, if you get a chance let me know what your gains looked like after that long GH cycle. That's my plan right now. 6 months or more depending.

As long as you weren't diagnosed with something called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy you should be fine with appropriate BP management and regular echocardiograms. Then again, HCM is usually diagnosed at autopsy (unfortuantely).

This is an excellent thread with great info that could affect a lot of us. Just disregard that idiot and keep us up to date on your plan.

Autopsy? You mean you eventually die from it I'm assuming. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated. All my life I'm thinking I'm doing the best thing by working out, and staying fit, only to find out that it's actually killing me by enlarging my heart. WHAT THE FUCK.
