The other day I was flipping through channels and came across a documentary where they were interviewing a natural bodybuilder about his diet. He said that he used to do like everyone said and take in mass amounts of protien and lower carbs but when he did, he was always tired and had no energy and didn't see any gains so he changed his diet to be 70% carbs and just moderate protien intake and it has worked wonders. He says that he has had great gains since he changed his diet. Isn' t that the opposite of what we all say?

It's not the opposite of what i say. I definitely don't recommend the HUGE amount of protein most guys on here consume every day. It's just too much. No diet should have more protein than carbs.

But I don't recommend 70%...i should have added that. That is a bit high...55% is a normal range.

And of course protein intake should be increased when on a cycle...but not too much.

I found that when I raised my carbs, I did better. Not sure about 70% though. I guess I could see it under the right circumstances.

i know i would get fat as hell on the diet...maybe it works for him though.

me too. jesus what nightmare diet for me.

Significant or Not

I don't know if this is significant but if you look at Carbs vs. Protein in MyoPlex Mass or any weight gainer there's more than twice the amount of carbs as apposed to protein. I don't know just thought I'd throw that in there of course I wouldn't expect carbs to help you cut but if the guys bulking it probably makes sense. I believe protein is more (maintanence) for cutting so you don't loose muscle mass while consuming less etc.. I don't know call me an idiot.

If you are on a carb restricted diet you get weaker. Carbs are needed for strength, but they also make you fat. You need to find a good balance but this also depends largely on the individual.

Everyone is an individual. . .I get huge and stay lean on some pretty serious carbs in the offseason. I do have a speedy metab and some guys don't deal with carbs well at all and get fat just looking at some bread:-)
you have to experiment a bit and see what happens.
keep safe
