Do you ever feel big enough ?

You're always your own worst critic!! Go read the Greek story of tantalus, this is a great example of every seriously dedicated body builder! You may say you only want to be at a certain size and shape but honestly that will never be enough. The biggest part of body building is never settling or being complacent! You will always find yourself competing with yourself!!!

I think you're mistaken about Tantalus..

No, I don't think I am... I know he was a thief and a cannibal too. My mentioning him as an example was strictly in regards to his punishment and never being able to grasp the fruit or drink the water... Meaning our goals are typically always out of reach if we keep competing within ourselves and never settling at a certain size!

For me it doesnt matter how much I gain , I just dont feel big. I get plenty of compliments on my size but when I look in the mirror, I see a normal looking body. i was just wondering if any of you feel the same way. For instance this past thurs, I was at my 2nd graders science night school function and in the middle of the program this 8yr old looks at me and says ... " Mr. why are your veins popping out of your arms? " lol then another kid chimes in " are you a wrestler? with all those muscles?" I was totally caught off guard and it surprised me but I still dont feel big ? My wife says its just me and I think it is maybe its dysmorphia ? .... sucks cause im never satisfied with how I look..... Just venting alittle ... Cbodd ...

Join the club bro 😃

Everyone says to me, god your lookin big mate, your lookin ripped etc etc. But lets be honest, you always feel like an extra inch, or 1% less body fat would make you happier.

yeah we always see ourself as normal and looking to get to the next level.

I was travelling in Dec and I got asked twice if I was a bodybuilder at restaurants not sure if it was my choice of food or the way I looked but it sure felt nice coz hell I dont think I'm there yet

Never thought I was big, I never see any results from training till I have an assessment or visit my brother, he always sees the difference, good or bad he always points it out too! Today I asked a guy how much he was lifting to see if I could work in a few sets, he looked at me and said "not as much as you mate" which surprised me cos I'd always seen this guy as being bigger & stronger than me. Another bloke commented that I'd visibly leaned out recently. I hadn't noticed a thing other than my trousers being a bit looser round the waist.

the thing is, as you can already tell, others are going to see the difference a lot more than you do because you see yourself everyday, and its hard to see the progress... even if you look at pictures and you can see it, its harder to see it in person... ...

this is exactly right.. if i run into someone i haven't seen in a couple years or look at older pics of me I can really tell the difference..

especially considering today i look like i have a small head.

I think its normal for us as bodybbuilders to never be completely satisfied with where we stand..always looking for improvements. The dysmorphia thing could exist.

This is very true, i always feel small.. When i was 170lb i said to myself my final goal is to be 200lb, i reached 200lb wasnt satisfied, i set a goal to be 215, reached 215 wasnt satisfied reached 232 not happy.. But the weird thing is when im pumped at the gym i look fuking huge, i remeber i had 18.5 arms last year at bw of 213 but my arms were pumped to the max and they were huge during workout, right now i have 18.5 cold at 232 but they look smaller or different than 18.5 when they were pumped from last year, now pumped they are 19.1/2 which gets to a size i like but they wear off too quick.. \
I think someone said it best, its because you see your self everyday.. They way i measure progress now is through tape measure...

It's crazy that this topic is on here. Every time I look in the mirror I think to myself that I look small. I'm 6'2" 230lb and I'm never satisfied. Every day at the gym or buddies that see me say dude your huge but in my head it feels good to hear that but I don't feel it. It's good to never be satisfied but at the same time I would like to feel good about my size. I know exactly how you guys feel!!
