Dizziness

Allright, this has happened to me twice this week - after my third set of 4 on flat bench and after my first set of straight leg raises this morning. I get really dizzy, and it doesn't go away for a good 1/2 hour. I can't walk a straight line if you paid me, I feel nauseous, and I just don't feel right for a couple hours - even after the dizziness has passed. I think it may be my low blood pressure - I'm hydrated, I've been eating before and immediately post lift, so the only thing I can think of is low blood pressure.

BTW - last time I had it checked I was 90/56. Is there anything I can take to help with this? My doctor always mentions how low my blood pressure is, but never seems too concerned about it or offers up a remedy. Should I start taking yohimbine hcl again?

mine is also pretty low (110/60) & I eat virtually no fat/ no salt... if you want yours to go up-- change your diet.

personally-- I dont mind a little headrush between sets... hahha (j/k!)

are you taking any supplements that might contribute to it? are you working out on an empty stomach?

Thanks for the link, Makedah. I already do the 5-6 (make that 6-7) meals/day, low in sugar diet, so my best bet is probably to get another physical and make sure it's nothing else.

MsBeverylyHills - I don't restrict salt and I eat a moderate fat diet (lower carb, higher fat), so changing my diet won't necessarily work. :-) But thank you!

JJ,
I'm just curious...is it that time of the month? i just ask because i had a similar thing happen to me yesterday and i felt dizzy and nauseous and then i was really pale. that's never happened before and i am wondering if it could have anything to do with my period. i thought maybe because of low iron or something...?

Try eating more carbs. Guaranteed to raise BP, increase sodium retention AND encourage anabolism.

I get the nausia at times too. Haven't figured it out. Sometimes it'll last for hours. It happens to me mostly on leg days.

With the dizziness...if your bp is low, stand with your legs crossed at the ankles and squeeze your leg muscles and hold. This will help keep the blood in your head. This was in an article in a fitness mag. It works for my husband. :)

Thanks guys! MS - I've been trying to eat more carbs, but I'm still only running about 100 grams/day. I'm too used to my eating routine and I'm having a heck of a time breaking it. I'll toss another carb meal or two in and see if that helps.

I am PMS'ing this week (start tomorrow), but this also happened to me about two weeks ago when I was incline pressing. I eat plenty of red meat, so I don't think it would be an iron issue.

MrsPuddles - I'll have to give that a try next time.

I went to my doctor today - turns out there's fluid in my left eardrum, which she thinks is the cause of my vertigo. She put me on antibiotics and a decongenstant and said to give it two weeks. Hopefully, this will clear it up - I benched on Friday, got nice and dizzy and naseous, and still felt like mierda Saturday morning.
