Deadlifting my way to Happiness - Al420's log

Dang bro... nice lifting but maybe your hammering your traps too much if it's impeding your squat?

Thanks Sarge - I have been neglecting the 2nd dip - so that is on the way down?
hell yah! You need to dip to receive the weight :) Traps = Catch bar... Dip = softer catch and less risk of injury.... EX: ME and how i fahked up my neck, lol

Yesterdays workout:

Back Squats:135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 365x2 - everything flet heavy. more details below
Deadlifts: passed
EZBar Preacher Curl: 45x10, 65x10, 85x8x5
superset w/
Decline Abs:BW x20x6

Did some other various bicep stuff. Not a good workout at all. My lower back was overly pumped again (deloading the bar was a bitch). I should have killed 365x5 but for whatever reason everything felt heavy. I think I have it figured out - my traps are sore from jump shrugs and I am not used to the way heavy weights feel on sore traps - just got to learn to work around it - need to do some heavy walkouts or something. Did deads on Sunday so there was no way I was doing them today - just trying to get back to my schedlue so this week had a forced day (sunday)

No training today. May go box but no lifting.

Maybe moving back to a 3xwk workout might help with your heavy lifting. It seems to help me a bunch with strength. It's really strange but sometimes if you don't workout that much and keep heavy weight in mind.......you get stronger. Or you could just sit in the corner AGAIN and yell stuff at people as they walk by. You could just pick out a good lookin' girl and follow her around all workout??

Yesterdays workout:

Front Squats:barx10, 95x8, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3x3
Rows:95x10, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 175x5, 195x5
Chins: -100x15x2
Leg Press: 8plates x10, 12plates x10, 20plates x8

Pretty decent workout. Legs are sore. I decided to "stretch" my legs on the leg press - which turned into actually doing leg presses.

Today is some flat and strict overhead work - oh yeah, and it is gay tricep day as well I think.. :qt:

For your gay triceps try some close grip bench. Keep those elbows in and you will really learn to like it. It has also help my bench some I think.

Finally made it here to say hi & check out what you've been doing.

^^ I agree since you were having that shoulder issue, but you know that already. :) Have a great weekend.

Todays workout:

Flat Bench:95x10, 135x5, 155x5, 185x5, 195x5, 205x5
Strict Standing Press:95x5, 135x5x5
Dips: BWx5x5

Did some tricep work as well. Not a special workout, just got in and got it all done. Dips are very hard for me, I actually got 7 reps on my 2nd set and 6 on a couple others. I will be doing these and chins starting next week at every workout - Blut Wump spoke about this I think - I just want to get up to par on these lifts so I am going to.

Standing press work was tough. 135 was too big a jump from 95 so I decided to just work w/ that weight. This is a good example of why a log is good b/c next week when I look back i will remember that to get to heavier weights some times I need to warmup slower.

warmups are good. i hate them personally and will find any reason not to warmup, but it helps for sure.

so are you going back to a 3day/week schedule?

Saturdays workout:

Back Squats:185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 365x3
Jump Shrugs:135x10, 185x8, 225x6, 275x5, 315x5, 365x1

Did some Bicep and some calf work as well. Still doing calf's DC style and it is some painful shit.

Todays Workout:

BTN Push Press:95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 145x5, 155x5 - almost lost rep 4 behind me - must maintain jedi like focus
Flat Bench:195x5x5
DB Incline:65x10x3
Skulls:75x12x3

Both good workouts. Squats are feeling good. Bench is felling good for the first time ever. My arms growing has helped the lift seem more stable. PP's are weird. The weight goes up so easily. Can't wait till I can do 225 on this so at the end of a squat I can PP it - sounds like fun at least.

Thanks to Sarge for teaching me the "2nd dip" for PP's. The bar lands nicely on the traps when you dip back down. I see 185 over head in a week or 2.

good to see the PPs goin up...your pressing is def. coming along nicely, keep workin at it and remember your basics and youll be alright
