Contest vs. off-season

My brother <------------------ is just gearing up for a local (very small) show. He didn't ask me to assist, as he has some guru helping him, but I was wondering...........He does cardio 1st thing, then has a meal of 3/4 cup steel cut, 1/2 grapfruit and 1.5 scoops of protein about an hour later............pretty decent. Next, he has a myoplex w/ 1tb of flax about 2 hours later. Then his 3rd meal is 1/2 cup of brown rice and 6oz of chicken w/ sopme greens.....

My thoughts were to remove the myoplex, and eat 2 pieces of whole wheat, low carb bread....one half with maybe a tb of anpb, the other with a very lean ostrich, tuna, bison patty.........Which do you think would not only yield better results (muscle repair wise) but keep in the leanest while adding as much lean mass as possible?

Would your thoughts change if he were bulking? K for yo help...........

another thought was another 1/2 cup of oats and some protein, but he says he gets to bloated...........again, thanks.

It's whole grain, low carb....thats his choice........I like the ANPB (good fats) and ostrich patty on the other side personally.........I think he eats tuna mid-pm.......

Man, I never incorporated any type of whole grain or whole wheat breads in my precontest diet, just off-season. I know they're healthy for ya but I was always under the impression that any type of bread even whole wheat was a no no when competition dieting. Please tell me this isn't true and maybe next time around I will be a much happier man! Wouldn't recommend Myoplex though either.

What about off-season? I used the myo too as my 2nd meal........keeping the protein flowing is my theory........

I dont' see why it wouldn't be a good choice during the offseason!

What your diet look like bra?

Right now I'm kinda on a maintenance diet, not really cutting, not really bulking. Just trying to maintain while staying fairly lean. Nothing special but here you go:

Meal 1 : Up Your Mass (or) Lean Mass Matrix MRP
Meal 2 : Chipotle - Steak Burrito Bowl w/ Rice, Black Beans, Salsa, Lettuce
Meal 3 : Up Your Mass (or) Lean Mass Matrix MRP
Meal 4 : 2 - 5oz Ground Beef Burgers w/ Cheese and condiments on 100% whole wheat flour bread
Meal 5 : 8oz cut up Chicken Breast with mixed greens and either Balsalmic Vinagarette or Blue Cheese Dressing
Meal 6 : 2 1/2 scoops of MRM Whey Concentrate/Isolate protein shake with added Flax and Evening Primrose Oil

That's about it at the moment. Actually down to about 175lbs at 5'9" tall approx 9-10% bodyfat. Not like last year at this time when I was 185lbs at 6-7% bodyfat. I didn't realize just how much anabolics can make a difference. Even though diet and training hasn't been up to par here in the last several months either.

thanks bro...but didnt you just rip me for myoplex??? LOL.......

Is the 2nd one a PW shake?

No, I didn't rip ya for myoplex bro. I just wouldn't use them personally for contest prep, save em for the offseason. But, different things work differently for each individual which I'm sure you are well aware of.

2nd one is a PW shake.
