Carb of choice.........

I know for myself, I cannot eat these types of foods and get lean. And I am sure there are other people like me out there. So enough with the blanket statements - open your eyes, open your mind.

Maybe it's cause you're extremely insulin sensitive?

I think you meant resistant - insulin sensitivity is a very positive and conducive to healthy wellbeing thing :o

No I did mean sensitive. The way i understand it is the more sensitive you are to insulin, the less carbs needed to promote an insulin spike, so I was thinking maybe these foods are spiking his levels too high, whereas in "normal" people they wouldn't.

I knew I said I wouldnt respond on this thread again, but you are way off base.

When one is insulin resistent and ingests carbs that person's BG levels rise, and some insulin is released to shuttle this to receiving cells (either adipocytes or muscle fibers, typically the former). This person with poor insulin sensitivity's cells don't receive this signal well so more insulin is released, over and over again until insulin levels SPIKE, all the glucose is disposed of, and BG levels plummet due to the over abundance of insulin in the body... this usually results in a very lethargic feeling in the insulin resistant individual.

An insulin sensitive person's cells readily accept this signal (insulin) and store the glucose with a minimal amount of insulin being released and thus they have less of a spike and more stable BG (blood glucose) levels.

PF

EDIT: And yes, I do believe I am insulin resistant. :)

this condition you describe is hypoglycemia, it is actually overproduction of insulin usually due to either insulin insensitivity in the pancreas or impaired glucose feedback signaling.

technically this might also be called glucose hypersensitivity.

:)

so what kind of carbs do u suggest to eat for a cutting diet? since you posted this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Rice, brown 79
Rice, white 83
Spaghetti, durum 78
Yam 73
Sweet potato 77
Potato mashed 100"

"i would never touch any of them while trying to cut."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

i am totally baffled by your argument bro. ive never heard anybody make that statement before. these are supposed to be the best choices for cutting. where do u get off thinking they are no good. you ask for facts...post a study on your statements.

....u must be huge and ripped being that u are so full of all this knowledge. so could u please post a pic....and why do u have that scrawny little gangster wanna be looking dude in your avatar?....opps that must be u...lol my bad

exactly bro...i mean look at his avatar

IMO fructose should only be used post workout and maybe some in the morning....esspecially while dieting. but i dont compete so i could be wrong...thats just what i do

YOU don't need to compete to understand that yams, sweet pot., brown rice, steel cut oats, fiberous veggies.....are all extremely solid as far as good, complete, complex carbs go...........I can't even recall the last time I ate a piece of fruit, save a grapefruit now and again.............like I said, he can do want he wants, just hope no one adapts his theories.............
