Can somebody answer this Pill question???

This is my first month on the Pill. I've felt OK mostly, except for menstrual crampy-like feelings the second two weeks of white pills.

Now I am almost through the week of two greens/five yellows and no period. Although I have menstrual-crampy feelings as if I were on the most uncomfortable day of my period. My doctor said I should start this week. Well, it's Friday night ...

What is UP with this?? I doubt very seriously I could be pregnant. We haven't done anything DUMB.

Is it common to miss a period your first few months on the Pill?

Maybe it's not the right strength for you. Or maybe you just need to adjust to it.

Bumping for a decent answer. :)

Which one are you taking? I've gone through two different new OCs before I decided to quit attempting to use hormonal OC and switch to non-hormonal OC (Cenchtroman). I tried Yasmin for a month, then switched to Alesse for a month, then quit. I had heavier periods on both of them than I normally have, starting on Wednesday each time. Usually I just spot, but after both tries, I had a regular 3-4 day period. I'm hoping Cenchtroman will put me back into the "no period" life again - I might actually have to buy a new box of tampons, and it's killing me. :-)

You may want to take a pregnancy test, just for your own relief of mind.

If fat MAKES estrogen, can that throw things off too? Levels too high? Or would that just be totally unrelated estrogen?

I doubt I have any estrogen related problems. When you have those you have thickened/abnormal uterine lining because it doesn't all get shed every month. I have had two endometrial biopsies (OW!) and they were both normal.

Actually I FINALLY did start today. But it is *really* light so far. At least these @#$# cramps feel better.

My pill is called Mircette.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Troll, there's more to it than that. The strength could have something to do with progesterone being too high, and the pill not being strong enough/too strong to allow for the progesterone drop that occurs when you 'start.'

BABYDOC!?! ;)

usually the first month of taking the pill...your body is adjusting, so I wouldn't freak out if you are a little off on your "starting" day. you've got to give it a little time to get on track. the cramps usually subside substantially with OC's...that's a bonus :) !

Actually according to my doc the first 3 months of switching on / off / different BC can be adjustment periods. Spatts may have something as well -- I have used Triphasal in the past which is one of the lowest estrogen / progesterone combinations out there, but it worked for me. I tried changing a few years ago when I switched docs, however I always experienced break-thru bleeding at 2 weeks & lots of cramps instead of no period. You can check w/ your OB GYN - it may be that you need to try a different dosed b/c.
