Can I take in Dextrose during a hockey game for faster energy?

Anyway, I have a ton of dextrose, and was wondering if I could drink dextrose during a hockey game instead of something like Gatorade? I know Gatorade has things like sodium and potassium added to help absorbtion, but can it be done?
 
You could do it but I'm not sure the blood-sugar swings would be good in hockey, stick to the gatorade and use the dextrose after the game, as if it were post-workout.
 
Dextrose is a simple sugar that is provides a quick burst of energy. I would mix it with a more complex carb to avoid the spike/crash and receive sustained energy. Also make sure you do not take to much dextrose as you could get nausea. If you want to try something that will give you a MAJOR ENERGY PUMP, try Ultimate Orange. You will be checking opponents through the glass and breaking them in half.

ultimate orange (if im thinking about the same thing as him) is basically an ECA drink... Youre probably better off taking the pills because that stuff tastes like ass :sick:
 
Yes its basically a weaker ECA with carbs. I used to use it while playing football and soccer. It rocks. I didn't take it for the taste. For most people on this board taste is secondary to positive results. Otherwise no-one would be drinking raw flax. As alot of diet suppliments and foods taste like shit.

Just taking the ECA does not answer his question or needs at all. Ultimate orange has a good balance of simple and complex carbs to provide sustained energy. ECA by itself has no carbs or energy calories.

If you just want to use the dextrose, you could mix it evenly 25-35 grams dextrose with 25-35 grams Maltodextrin . The Maltodextrin is a more complex carb and would provide the sustainable energy balance for the dextrose spike. Then if you want to kick it up one more level take the ECA. Make sure you and your body understands what the ECA stack feels like before you take it for a game. It is intense the first time. Make sure you also understand what the ECA does and what the sides are. If you have high blood pressure ECA is not for you. As you know a pitcher recently died of de-hydration while on the ECA.
