Boxing trivia: Do not cheat.

What current contender has knocked out 4 heavyweight champions, 2 in the first round? Victims were: Hasim Rachman, Oleg Maskaoev, Michael Moorer, John Ruiz.

He has fought 6 heavyweight champions, losing to 2 by decision. The guy has never been knocked down or hurt. Baddest heavyweight to never win a title, but he might yet.

WTF?? are you huffing paint thinner as you type??

Lennox Lewis does nothing but jab the WHOLE fight. sure he wins but I dont consider someone who just throws jabs with his long reach as the best anything.

Anyway, more jabs to come...you are my new toy..

Lennox fact - Lennox and Rocky Marciano are the only two heavyweight boxers to have retired having beaten everybody they stepped into the ring against. Lennox needed some second chances, but that's an interesting fact.

David Tua is one dimensional. He has a really big left hook. His biggest problem was that he didn't move his head well, especially has he aged. Klitchko wouldn't even need to take any chances to beat him. He would jab from a distance and as soon as Tua got in range of his big left, Klitchko could hold him. That fight would be very one sided.

Exactly, Lennox beat the shit out of everyone....when he retired there was no one else to be spanked.....the guy kicked ass...

maybe idiots like TC2 should brush up on their boxing knowledge...

He should have NEVER lost to Rahman though. He was sleep walking through that fight before he got clocked.

Interesting question - who wins with both fighters in their respective primes?
Lennox Lewis vs. Larry Holmes

Andrew Golota - that guy had issues.
Yeah I remember Larry Merchant or one of the HBO announcers saying after it happened for like the 5th fight " its obivious that there is something very wrong here"

How about when the riot started after the fight on HBO! Remember that. My all time favorite was Aurtio Gotti's fight where he was all busted up and still came back and won.

Which one? Gatti did that a few times. Very fun fighter to watch.

the fight with Rahman he had it in the bag....one lucky shot and he was knocked out..damn..

Lewis vs. Homes is real tough one...Holmes ranks as one of the best boxers in the last 100 years...Wasnt he one of the two boxers who KO, Muhamed Ali?

Yeah - but Ali's brain was scrambled eggs by then. Holmes was an amazing fighter. But Lennox hit harder (I think) and was just physically bigger. Lennox's suspect chin is why I give the fight to Holmes.

i think the best fights ever were the ones bween Frazer and Ali...the thrilla in Manila....

Frazer wouldnt bow at all despite having being hit with tones of punches,,,he will keep going forward...awesome bouts between those two...

one of the biggest surprise was Ali's defeat against a novice with ony 7 pro fights under his belt, Leon Spinks..

How about Rocky Marciano-Ali?

Well - IMO - with everyone in their primes - I think Ali was the fastest, flat out best Heavyweight fighter ever.

Do you remember the fight between Foreman and ALI....Foreman had him for 8 rounds I believe when exausted and tired of Ali's rope a dope strategy ....he got KO and he failed to make the count..No one would give Ali a chance against Foreman but his strategy worked out perfectly..

Ali's plan was to enrage Foreman ---which he did succesfully--and absorb his best blows in order to exhaust him mentally and physically. By the 8th round Foreman was exhausted and ALi took advantage of it..

Speaking of Foreman his comeback at 45 to regain the heavyweight championship was amazing...

It is sad that in the last years after Lennox retirement the heavyweight division went to shit..
Oh yeah it did - but it will come back around. I just can't stand the amount of titles. It seems like every freaking boxer has a title now.

Name top three best heavy weights at all time...

Oh yeah - he just out-thought him in that one. He wasn't even at his best then, he was starting to age.

too bad he didnt know when to retire...Don King was always pushing him to more fights...his last fight was at 39 ..he already had a hole in the membrane of his brain but Don King let him fight again...sad...

a good fight to come..the golden boy, Dela Hoya against Floyd Mayweather..
Bookmakers are giving the better odds to Floyd....I am rooting for Oscar....there is a huge purse involved too...

reno240 said:
Oh by the way - to answer my own question - I give it to Holmes on account of his chin.
and his heart. the fight against ken norton was an incredible hvywt fight for the punches thrown and landed.

i would've liked to have seen him fight tyson when tyson was in his prime. lennox would've won but it would have been a helluva better fight. and somewhere we gotta throw evander holyfield in this mix. for a small hvywt , what a warrior he was.

For his own good I hope Holyfield calls it quits soon.

Holyfield may pay the price later on as he doesnt know when to retire...see ALI...

When Tyson was the big bad champ that nobody wanted to fight. Lennox used to go to his fights - sit in the front - and call him out all night. Tyson wouldn't fight him then.

agreed. i don't know what it's going to take though to get him to stop. right now he's got more heart than brains and skill left.

Yep - AND - I am really hazy on the details, but I think he got busted for a steroid not too long ago. Or he was under suspicion.

yeah i don't see how it can't help but to affect him as he gets older, the man took some huge punches from some super sized hvywts.

I wanna see a fight between Klitchko and Maskaev...
yah, that fight will happen. and the oscar-floyd fight, i actually am giving oscar a good chance to win that. not saying it'll be an exciting fight because floyds not gonna want to get hurt so he'll move a lot. dela hoya can win it as the aggressor, taking the fight to him. i hope.

the odds are 50/50 between Maskaev and Klitscko...
there is another up and coming boxer...a beast from Ukraine I believe...his name is Valuev....

http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/20051217/valuev_80076.jpg

Nikolai Valuev (Russian: Николай Валуев; born August 21, 1973) is the first Russian professional heavyweight boxing champion and the current holder of the WBA title. His alias used to be "The Beast from the East" but he now prefers to be styled "The Russian Giant".

Valuev is the tallest and heaviest recognized champion to this day, standing at 214 cm (about 7 feet) tall [1] and weighing in at 145-150 kg (320-330 lb).

In 1993 Valuev became a professional boxer and he won the WBA title December 17 2005 with a points decision over American John Ruiz. He successfully defended the title 3 June 2006 against Owen Beck, October 8, 2006 against Monte Barrett and 21 January 2007 against Jameel McCline. His record currently stands at 46 wins and no defeats, with one no contest.

I don't think the Maskaev/Klitscko fight is 50/50. I think Klitscko wins easily.

Valuev is kind of a crappy boxer. He is just over 7 feet tall and over 300 pounds. AND one hairy ass son-of-a-bitch. Ruiz technically lost the fight, but many people thought he was robbed of the decision in Russia.

I agree with your assessment of the Mayweather fight. Add in the fact that Oscar is the naturally bigger of the two men, and Mayweather may have his hands full. BUT EVERYTIME - I think Mayweather has a challenge on his hands, he kicks the shit out of the guy.

It's David Tua. Guy may never win a title, but he's the toughest sob to ever step into the ring.
