Best way to master the Chin Up...?

That's an interesting idea. A flat bench under the cable frames was high enough to stand & reach - so I had opted to go to a higher bar, jumped up and did the negative rep down. I might try that w/ the one foot thingie.

We have a stool at my gym that I use cuz I'm not tall enough to reach the pull-up bar from the floor. I'll have to try resting 1 foot on it. Also, since I tend to lose my grip, I also used my lifting straps to hold me onto the pull-up bar.........

Strengthen your grip by not using straps on most exercises will help you build up your grip. Having something to press off of (like another person's leg) can sometimes help you to only use the amount of force needed to propel/pull yourself up. Start with a closer grip and try widening your grip as you grow stronger. Close-grip pull downs (no straps) will help you strengthen the area you are trying to utilize - any overhead pulling exercises. Heavy dumbell rows also. Use a belt (cinched loosely) so you can breathe in through you belly then pressing out - against the belt.
