Best Pec Building Exercise??

Pacesetter

New member
What do you guys think is the best exercise for building the pectorals?

I can't bench press any more due to shoulder probs. I can incline and perform flat flyes without much problems. I can also do weighted dips, but recently felt some pec strain doing them.

I've only just recently returned to doing weighted dips. They were working good 'till I started experiencing nagging strains. Personally I feel this is the BEST exercise if performed correctly.

Anyone else feel that dips are one of the best or no?

I love doing dips but as a tricep exercise. Shoulder injuries sure do suck! I jacked mine up going too heavy too often on the flat bench. Gotta see an orthopedic doctor next month.

For me, heavy incline (@30 degrees) dumbell presses are where it's at for pec development. I do dips on both triceps day and chest day. It's my last exercise on chest day and my second excercise on tricep day (after close grip bench.) I lean forward more when stressing the chest and lean a little more back when going for the triceps.

Try incline dumbell presses as well as dips elbows flared doing them really slow and don't go too low as this is where the most strain would usually come from. Follow that with flyes and or pec deck and you're set.

You could also try pre-exhausting your chest first by starting with the isolation movements such as flyes then moving on to the more basic compoud movements like incline dumbell presses and dips done without weight.

incline dbs heavy with rest pauses and full range of motion is all you need.
