Anyone vegetarian?

KWKSLVR said:
I think most people realize it, they just don't care.

Besides, wouldn't all of the extra mice and snakes that get killed by farm equipment harvesting all of the extra grain that vegetarians eat count as "murder" too?

Of course, technically it can't be murder since, according to Webster, murder is defined as: the unlawful premeditated killing of a human being. Baaa, at any rate, its just good-natured ribbing. It's not like we aren't willing to help out anyone looking for it. :)

save the snakes and mice, eat a chicken

That is a very intelligent point. I feel so stupid now.
Anything can be justified in one way or other, but do me a favour. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

I am finished with this thread.
I just want to point out that two people actually gave advise to the original question and all the rest just made jokes. So if anyone else posts jokes here about meat, and then thinks I will beleive it is just good natured ribbing is mistaken. I take it for what it is: STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE.

easy bro, remember you are on a bodybuilding board... you're not gonna meet many bodbuilders who dont' eat meat. Fortunately, you are going to meet a lot of them on here like Macro who know shitloads about nutritional science. I have gone vegan before and let me tell you, it's not the best idea. Just stick to like macro said a lacto-ovo veg diet, and choose your food purchasing sources wisely. If you are hell bent on going vegan then I wish you luck. Make sure to keep the bean intake VERy high(along with nuts gonna be your best protein source), and don't plan on many girls sitting next to you for awhile cuz you're gonna fart like a MADMAN. I lost about 15 pounds of muscle when I went vegan and got to the point where I didn't look "good". Although the reintroduction of meat (after only 5 months of vegan dieting) made me sick at first, it helped me to regain my previous mass VERY quickly. I hope you can find a happy medium but from experience I am advising that you do nOT do a full vegan plan. Good luck :D P.S. throw in a good fat supplement.

Wow, I really didn't meant to start a brawl everyone! Haha....

Anyway, I did check out a few veggie/vegan boards to look at their diet plans but they all really reccomend eating veggies all day and a lot of "fake burger" prepared foods. Now, I like boca burgers and fake chicken nuggets...but they can be really high in simple carbs and fat. And I am really trying to eat a clean diet-free of highly processed foods.

The diet that I am trying to follow is this:

Meal #1: 8 oz. water, whey protien and 1 banana

Meal #2: Chicken Breast, Brown Rice, Green Beans

Meal #3: 8 oz. water, whey protien and flax seed oil

Meal #4: Tuna fish in spring water, baked yam, broccoli, flax seed oil

All together about 1,200 cals. I am trying to substitute the chicken breast and tuna with other protien sources that have the same nutritional content and that is where my problem is. I weight train 3 days a week and do cardio/abs the other days of the week...

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Are you looking to replace the chix/tuna with a vegetarian option?? With the meal plan you posted, it doesn't look like you are 1) eating enuf calories and 2) enuf protein......

Maybe in meal 1 you could have oatmeal with protein powder -- the oatmeal is slow-digesting and has good fiber...... + egg whites if you eat them...

Meal 2 could be beans/lentils & brown rice, maybe with added TVP (depending on how you feel about soy, but that's another "argument" LOL), seitan, Quorn, etc......

Then go from there......

I wouldn't rely on protein shakes as your meals -- it's not healthy or balanced meal-wise.........

Also, if you are truly wanting to go vegetarian, then watch which powder you choose as some have egg in them.....

Are you going to continue eating eggs, chix & tuna? Or are you looking to exclude them??

Thanks for your input but if you had read the whole thread you would opf seen that I said I am not a vegetarian. I once was and have uttermost respect for people who try this lifestyle, but I myself for different reasons have gone back to meat.
My point was that the person who started this thread was asking for advice with her veggie diet, but some people on this board posted useless remarks laughing at the subject. Now lets get real, this is after all a forum on the internet and I really couldn't care less if people joke around. But I felt that maybe someone should point out to these people that even if they think eating meat is elementary, some people do not think it is a laughing matter.
So if they had no sound advise to offer (This is a forum especially created for people to come and discuss fitness and offer advise to each other right?) then maybe they should have just not said anything at all. You as a moderator should see this... no?
Anyway, I always thought it was interesting that people have a hard time accepting vegetarians and almost always have to make a snide remark.
If you were a vegan you can probably identify with that.

I know that I may be in left field my asking this question....

But is there anything to substitute the meat/fish/eggs in a clean diet with something that is non-meat or non-animal product?

I'm a vegetarian cycling into a vegan and I am really trying to avoid animal products. The protien shakes that I use for 2 out of 6 of my meals in a day or soy protien based...but I can't get all of my protien from that, right?

Ugh.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out. I am 5'2 150 looking to lose around 20 lbs.
proteinfactory.com has rice protein. maybe use that and soy protein. i've also seen vegetable protein from Naturade.
