I know there are a lot of people who prefer to have just a few different excercises, but personally, I like to have 5 or 6 per bodypart and about 20-22 sets per workout. Is this a bad idea? I'm not on gear or any kind of supps. and have been training for three years. If anybody has feedback I'd like to hear it. Thanx.

it really depends on your body....but in my opinion you're definately over training. I usually go up to 12 sets per body part on 3-4 different lifts. If I'm not feeling anything in the body part I'm getting I do my own version of a supper set. What I do is start performing the lift with pretty light weight. I keep lifting untill I can't get any more, then I stop for ten seconds and proceed to do even more untill I can't do it. I keep doing this untill I get to one hundred reps. By then my body part that I'm training is hurting like hell. You get a really good pump from it. However, I never go over 15 sets for any body part no matter how I feel. I'm really conscience about over training my body.

I agree. I'll do three excercises per body part. I do the last set to failure. By the last set of the last excercise, I probably couldn't do more with a gun to my head. Any more would be overtraining.

I don't believe that anyone can maintain 100% intensity for 22 sets of ANY bodypart. If you're not training with 100% intensity, then it is only a warm-up, and I fail to see the point in doing 10-12 warmup sets for a bodypart, after the first exercise, the muscle is warm...so train it and get the hell out of the gym, go hame, eat, sleep and GROW!!!!:D

BK...

I dont know bro thats cutting it pretty close to overtraining... I mean some people yes even naturals can maintain 20-25 sets per bodypart and make good gains. I agree that its a rarity but yes it can be done. I trained with that many sets for a long time and my chest grew like a weed. I dont know I mean if you are training with super-high volume and its really working for you then stick with it I guess. Otherwise, cut back bro. I like to do 12-15 sets per bodypart and thats a good # for me. Some people do more, some people do less, you gotta try all variations of training bro and find the one that gives you the best results and stick with that. Good luck!

:D:D

You have to sit and think about it this way..

You have to imagine how bad your muscles are being torn up by the intensity you put into your sets. Then you have to realize, how much tearing apart is *too* much? Will this muscle full recover and grow stronger from this injury i just inflicted upon it given the amount of rest and nutrients it will get before the next time it's worked? Just go with how you feel, if you give your biceps 4 killer sets that make you drop to your knees in pain (slight exauration) after each one, then your bi's are pretty much shot. What more can ya do?
